The heart touching and extremely cruel stories of the genocide are documented in this facility utilizing audio and visual media. It is recommended to read through all the displays in the building, there are also books available to buy in the counter outside. There are other memorials all around the country however this is the main memorial. The audio guide... More

Genocidal processes and deconstruction of the fabric of the human family are tragically similar across time and space, whether it is Berlin, Kigali, Srebenica, Auschwitz, Tuscaloosa, NYC or a million other places across human history. The KIgali Memorial Centre strives to shed light on the darkest impulses in human nature so that we can all guard against them and protect... More

Very well done museum even if it is on a disturbing subject. Shows blatently just how badly the rest of the world let them down and how much it was planned in advance. Suggest reading Shaking Hands with the Devil by Romeo Dallaire if you think it is in anyway exagerated More

I had read so many books on the Genocide and the history of this part of Africa before coming to Rwanda. However, I found the memorial to be informative and well put together. Overall the place moved me much more than I thought it would and I left feeling uneasy in my stomach. After laying a rose on the mass... More

Extremely moving and well designed. While this was an emotional visit, I am glad I went and would go again if I was in Kigali a second time. More

How terrible is man's ability for evil? It’s important that as many people as possible visit this memorial and actively do what they can to assist with prevention of such atrocity. More

After visiting Washington DC's and Jerusalem's holocaust museum's, I think this one is exceptional. It not only depicts the Rwandan genocide(s), but it provides a context/history of genocides and holocausts throughout the world. There are many moving exhibits, especially the children's section of the memorial. Viewing the mass graves as well as the gardens are a must. More

A must see in Kigali, though it would be helpful to leave this to the end of your trip so it does not colour your stay in such a wonderful country. Reminiscent of the Holocaust museum in Berlin. More
