Been there twice in the last couple of years, and i can tell you is one of my favourite spots. Milibangalala is a amazing beach inside the reserve that has a campsite with amazing view to the beach, it as no toilets only water from the well. Eco-Camping at its best. Amazing for fishing (Spinning for trevallys or Casting)

When travelled last through the Maputo Elephant Reserve, we enjoyed the wonderful flora of spring (October/November) and were travelling the entire day off-road without crossing any other car - just us and nature!

During May 2014 we wanted to drive from Ponto Malongane to Santa Maria through the park. We were 4 vehicles with two passengers each. At the gate they wanted to charge us R 450.00 per vehicle. When we said that all the tariffs on the internet was R 210 per vehicle the official said that that is very old tariffs.... More

Bird life fabulous and you will love the only signpost which is of a crocodile with its mouth wide open and a man. The message is clear and adds to the excitement. I recommend picnic next to the lakes which have hippo ( and crocs) you are sometimes forced to wait for the elephant on the sand roads. Here at... More

simply amazing! Endless white beaches with gigantic dunes. Stunning views on the local savana and bush - exceptional encounters with elephants and hyppos. My wife and I will keep an exceptional souvenir. We recommend a driver who knows the place because it is quite big and they know wher the best spots are!!

I travel to the bush on a regular basis - but the experience of driving through the Maputo Special Reserve was really special! Wow - so different yet so amazing! Highly recommended - a lifetime experience! Definitely again when next in the area....

I have driven through the Maputo Special Reserve on many ocsasions over the past few years and have found that it just gets better and better. The major investment on infrastructure and animal releases is really paying off, much of it due to some very generous donations. I see elephants on nearly every visit, always hippos and buck. Occasionally get... More

We booked a day trip with mosaic travel/bushland tours not only on very short notice but for Christmas day. They were very accommodating, the guide (Almero) knowledgeable and helpful. They warned we may see nothing, but we were lucky to see giraffed, zebra, gnu, and yes elephants as well as a fascinating array of ecosystems. All while provided with pick... More

Clearly this is a very wild place, you're totally out of Maputo whilst just an hour or so away. You can spot elephants and Hippos, lots of birds. The Milibangalala beach is beautiful! Now, you need to be ready for adventure, and bring everything you may need with you, because there, there is nothing. No cellphone signal, no showers, no... More

We were warned not to see many animals from our guides (Mozaic travels) from the beginning, but we saw elephants, hippos, reedbucks, red duiker, zebras, lots of giraffes and many birds. It's not like krüger in animal density or how close you get to the animals, but the reserve was at least as well worth a visit! We went 6... More
