Tsimbazaza zoo is mainly for those tourists who cannot go outside of Antananarivo for several reason. You expect to have a glimpse of Madagascar fabulous nature. And what you see is a poorly maintained zoo with badly nourished animals.

they are trying, but it is a zoo in a developing world capital city so dont go with high expectations. A pleasant way to spend an afternoon until you get to the Fossa enclosure and see the miserable cats, but likely this is the only way you will see them!!

Also some of the animals have space and live in good conditions, but others live in very bad conditions things i have only...

I was prepared for seeing poor conditions at this zoo but was pleasantly surprised by the gardens and enclosures in the zoo grounds. They have an excellent collection of Madagascan wildlife and the only fossas I saw on my trip was in the zoo - but it was worth it for that. I have certainly seen worse conditions in zoos...
