My friend and I were staying close to this place so decided we would have a look. To start with they have a local and foreigners price which was not expensive but strange. There are eight lions female and males in a round concrete building each with an extremely small amount of space. The lions are sad, mattered mains and... More

A quite run down zoo, but interesting to see the last of the descendants from Hailli Selassie's lions. As there is a shortage of room they are not allowed to breed and it is a shame that such magnificent animals have to be kept in such small and stark cages.

After or before visiting Ethnographic museum of Ethiopia at Sidist kilo you should have to check out lion zoo in front of Yekatit 12 Martyr's monument or hospital. Seriously I like them

Average zoo. Not very well maintained, smelly. Be ware of pickpockets. Animals are in a pity state. Lions are magnificent, and they have two monkeys and two birds and an antelope. 20 Birr for foreigners is bit more for this zoo unless you really want to see a lion.

Many years ago (about 7 years) it was good, but my recent experience wasn't that good. It was extremely crowded with very expensive ferenji tickets (foreigner tickets), the small lion cages show they haven't been cleaned in a while, the lions were asleep all the time (what else to do in a very small dirty concrete cage?) But at least... More

So sad to see the king of animals are treated like a street dog. Very pathetic upkeep and cleanliness, if can't maintain please allow them to be at their on tertiary.

The Lions are big and magnificent, but the rest of the zoo is a little sad. Several of the animal cages appear to improvisations made of spare wood and chicken wire. Spots to see the lions clearly can get crowded during feeding time. If you have a car, I suggest going to see the lions at the Born Free animal... More
