Only an hour's drive from Harare, Lake Chivero offers a peaceful getaway for half a day, a weekend or a few nights of rest and relaxation. It has cave paintings, a good selection of game (although no lions or cheetahs - but it does have elusive leopards) including rhino, who are often found grazing by the river in the late... More

Well, it's called a lion and cheetah park - but there aren't any cheetahs anymore, unfortunately. BUT, you can pay an extra $10 (entry is $7) to get into an enclosure with lion cubs. I did - it was amazing. Safe as they are still young and don't have that hunting instinct yet. Also they had been fed just before... More

The service was excellent; and the monkeys pilfering our food it was hilarious on our xmas party. The view and he lwans and the boat cruise, it was just good. I recommend this venue for recreation, weddings, converences and even as a retreat venue because this place is far away from the city's hallubaloo and near enough to minimise travel... More

I used to go here a lot when I lived here (left in '91) and cannot say I was holding out too much hope when invited by a friend to visit with my wife and 2 young kids. I was very pleasantly surprised, a nice day out for the kids and nice to see an old Harare institution hanging in... More

Go and stay at the National Parks Lodges. You need a sense of humor to get along with the furnishings which can be quite odd. Have a brain in the evening under the stars and book a walk with a Ranger who will take you for a safe walk with wild rhino at a sensible distance. Driving around the park... More

There are many entrances to the Lake... we picked one that was quite peaceful with only one shop. The weather was beautiful and the lake was amazing. It's only a short drive from Harare (less than 1 hour) it's great for a half day trip.
