It seems to be difficult to fill this enormous display area. It's a typical late 1950s building with a large mosaic on the outside. An exhibition of some very good portraits of prominent Zimbabweans was on display while we were there but we still felt like tiny peas in a small pod. Some of the artists associated with the adjacent... More

At a $1 it was still not worth a stop. They are doing renovations and perhaps when that is finished with it will be a good place to visit. The only galleries open contained a photo series on Churches in Goa (very beautiful) and a student exhibit. Both were actually very good but I was hoping that the National Gallery... More

A dollar USD to enter and be escorted into another world! This place was a real treat: incredible artwork and sculpture garden, cosy cafe with good cake and conversation, and a really nice gift shop.

I found this spot in a travel book. I should have known when it said the entrance fee is $1.00 that that was indicative of what I would find. All of the paintings on the walls were from 2013. When I paid, they told me that there was a sculpture garden that I should check out. I went outside and... More

The exhibit that was available was from young local artists and it was very interesting. The stone carvings are all around, either inside, either outside the building and some of them are really beautiful. The shop has very interesting pieces, some of them quite unique.

This is not one of the world's great national galleries but we enjoyed it despite its shortcomings. This a good souvenir shop, with some interesting books about African art. There are displays of traditional wood carvings and fetishes and so forth and quite a few modern canvases, some of them offering an insight into the travails of modern Zimbabwe. When... More
