Visiting El Jem was the best amazing. Fabulous full access to the amphitheatre with an amazing history. You can walk around at your leisure, it was not busy and in definitely worth a visit. Great little shop there and the area round has good shopping/ café's.

We visited this site as part of a 2-day tour throughout Tunisia, it was the very first stop and we arrived early in the morning - in fact we were the very first people admitted inside. It was a very convenient time to arrive as the market stalls outside were still closed so we weren't hassled by the vendors. Our... More

A beautiful place to come and roam around at your leisure. The sights are unbelievable. The pictures don't do it justice. Need to experience the place for yourself :)

We visited this old Roman Amphitheatre during a 5-day tour in Tunisia. Our guide explained us almost everything we needed to know about that place with 1,800 years of history. The amphitheatre is very-well conserved and you can admire it's greatness and splendor once in it. It is a MUST-SEE while you are in Tunisia!!

Set in a low rise town, the amphitheatre is an incredible sight - very well looked after and this should be on the list for all travellers to Tunisia. We went by train which was easy and relatively cheap.

We hired a car to get to El Jem and it was well-worth the effort. El Jem is a typical Tunisian town.....with a great big impressive amphitheatre right next to it. Wonderful to look around, lots of photo opportunities and some cafes over the road to take in the view. Camels are available for rides around the town and I... More

This site retains many of the features it had when built. It takes very little imagination to feel and to see what it must have been like 2000 years ago. The buildings illustrate the outstanding art of the Romans but the purpose of the build illustrates the depravity of the times. It is well worth visiting and the toilets are... More

You get the opportunity to roam around exploring every aspect of this site. It was truly amazing. It was really hot when we went so pack plenty of water. Young children may not find it as interesting or fun because it is an historical site, so lots of steps for little feet.
