I went to the Sahara Desert as part of a 2 day trip and had the best time. The camel treck was around 1hour riding through the desert and we actualy got to wear clothing to cover our arms and head to protect from the sun. More

I went on the 2 day trip in Tunisia, visiting El Djem, Luke Skywalker's old house (so I'm told, I've actually never seen Star Wars), the Troglodye settlement, going on the Lizard Train through the Atlas Mountains, and riding a camel in the Sahara. I always go on an outing or two when I'm on holiday, but this one, I... More

I don't understand that there still is a 'security alert' on Tunisia. I went there from November 2011 till January - I both stayed in Tunis, Catharge and went on a 3-days trip to the Sahara desert (Douz and Ksar Ghilane) with the (to be recommended) company "Sahara Tunisie" (sahara-tunisie.com). It was absolutely safe - and wonderful. Can recommend going... More

This was one of the best tours I have been on anywhere. For value, organisation, stimulation, the wow factor and for thoughtfulness and care. I was so impressed I wanted to write a detailed review so that you know what to expect. I don't want to spoil the magic either so will try not to give too much away. I... More

If you get a chance to visit the beautiful country of Tunisia, do not miss the opportunity to take a tour into the Sahara Desert, it is well worth it! I went; experienced the blanket of stars at night and the amazing expanse of desert during the day; rode a camel; dressed like a local; tasted local cuisine and bartered... More

If you get the opportunity to head out into the desert when in Tunisia then go for it!! You will have a wonderful time. If you are able to trek for afew days, with camels rather than 4 by 4's then all the better - tour companies such as exodus offer week long camel treks with all camping equipment provided... More

The Sahara, steeped in myths and legends, is the dream destination of many a romantic adventurer. The remote oasis of Ksar Ghilane, in the Grand Erg Oriental, has some of the most expansive sand seas of the Sahara. It is 138 km southeast of Douz, Tunisia. It offers stunning, breath-taking and some of the finest desert views in Tunisia. You... More
