At the half-day classes, one learns the secrets of Moroccan cuisine, considered the most refined on the African continent. The workshops are run by a dada (traditional Moroccan chef), a translator (French/English), and include a visit to a nearby spice market and communal bread oven. After the workshop, during which every participant has worked alongside the dada at his or her own workstation, one dines on the delicious meal that's been prepared. The cooking workshops at La Maison Arabe have been praised by the leading international travel and food press, including The New York Times Sunday Travel Section, Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, Saveurs, and Virtuoso Life. « less

My partner and I are both big foodies and love cooking so it was always part of our plan while visiting Marrakech to take a Moroccan cooking class. We had an idea of which one we would do (from Lonely Planet guide) but found it was all booked up for the week we were in town, so we looked online... More

My husband and I immediately fell in love with the delicious local cuisine and so jumped at the idea of a cooking class. The kitchen space was beautiful and clean and everything was well organized. The yummy dishes we prepared were served to us later as our lunch. We highly recommend this cooking class as a way of bringing home... More

One of the highlights of our holiday was a half-day cookery school at La Maison Arabe, a hotel and restaurant in the Marrakech medina. The instruction was excellent, the introduction to Moroccan spices and cooking Moroccan salads, tagines and pastillas was enlightening and we got to eat what we cooked! More

Fantastic cooking school, with great hosts. Learnt how to make tagines - vegetable and chicken, plus salads and bread. Delicious food, interesting information and a great environment to spend a few hours. Would recommend! More

What an amazing class with Mohammed! I had seen great reviews of him from previous posts and we were thrilled to arrive and find him as our teacher. The recipes and instruction were wonderful - I'm making my first tagine this evening for guests and hope to do as well as I did at the school - fingers crossed:) More

We did the cookery class as a family.Part of it was good and we did learn some about Moroccan cooking but a large part was done "on routine" without much personal enthusiasm from the Dada. Most interesting was a visit to the local owen where women from the neighbourhood take their bread to bake. Less interesting was the visit to... More

Dear Madam, I would like to thank you for the very kind words you posted concerning our hotel, and to express our regret that your experience at our cooking school was less than perfect. Our dada (traditional chef) does not speak any foreign languages which you may have sensed as a lack of enthusiasm; she is always accompanied by a... More

The workshop starts with a brief history of Moroccan food followed by a bread making demo where everyone has a go a kneading the dough, then off to the... More
