For budding chefs, or just those interested in food, but definitely on a budget - try out Backpackers' Cooking Class. Based in a traditional Marrakech riad - it is a fun, communal experience with great English, French, Spanish and Italian speaking staff. The real challenge is getting a tagine into your backpack to show off to your friends!

We found this class through a random Google search when all the other well-known cooking schools were booked the weekend we were in Marrakech. It was the first listing on the Google maps section and just said "cooking school" with a couple great reviews attached to it, so I took a chance and called. Hind said she could meet us... More

My family of four enjoyed this experience of getting to walk through the medina then coming to a building in a small alley to cook. We made meatball and lamb with apricot tagines. With that we had zucchini salad. The food was excellent. The advice that I would offer people is to go in with ideas of what you want... More

We had expected it to be a larger group but it was obly the two of us which was very nice! Hind met us in the square and we got to choose what we wanted to make and purchase ingredients. We made a lamb and apricot tagine, an eggplant dip and a mango and orange juice. Hind then helped us... More

We had a great cooking with Hnouda, thanks so much! The shopping trip is eventful, with the highlight being choosing your chicken (live) and it's a lot of fun! Would definitely recommend!

My Wife and I enjoyed our experience in this class, it is good value for money. We only booked a day before the actual class and we were happy that we were accommodated. The class started with shopping for all the ingredients at the Medina after which we all went to the Riad. The kitchen was a bit small, it... More

I participated in this cooking class at Riad Jennah Rouge on Wednesday 23 September. The class itself was enjoyable and involved a trip to the markets to buy ingredients followed by learning how to cook a tangia with lamb and prunes and a vegetable tagine, as well as bread and mint tea. The class itself was reasonably value at 20... More

It is a really nice idea: buying the food in the market, cooking and eating it for 18+€! For one person it cost 18€ + around 7€ in the market. We did, Moroccan salad, lamb tajine, tanjia, vegetables tajine and salad of fruits. We were 12 in the class and even if people were nice it is really too many... More

I really enjoyed the class. Sana was welcoming and friendly in responses to emails and from the very first moment so introduced herself at the meeting point. The other people taking the class were also very nice. It was great to visit the market first. The kitchen in which we did the class was very clean and well equipped and... More
