For budding chefs, or just those interested in food, but definitely on a budget - try out Backpackers' Cooking Class. Based in a traditional Marrakech riad - it is a fun, communal experience with great English, French, Spanish and Italian speaking staff. The real challenge is getting a tagine into your backpack to show off to your friends!

It is a really nice idea: buying the food in the market, cooking and eating it for 18+€! For one person it cost 18€ + around 7€ in the market. We did, Moroccan salad, lamb tajine, tanjia, vegetables tajine and salad of fruits. We were 12 in the class and even if people were nice it is really too many... More

I really enjoyed the class. Sana was welcoming and friendly in responses to emails and from the very first moment so introduced herself at the meeting point. The other people taking the class were also very nice. It was great to visit the market first. The kitchen in which we did the class was very clean and well equipped and... More

We met Sana and another couple at the meeting spot, went to the market and picked ingredients which is an experience by itself. Then in the Riad we cooked two lamb tagines and salad and made an amazing juice. Great value for money and a lovely way to spend the morning. I'd recommend this if you're in town. There are... More

Randomly selected this class with a friend to do for my 40th birthday... And had a brilliant day with a small group of interesting people. In a most charming road with a fabulous host, Sanae. Would recommend to anyone for a fun day and totally delicious tagine mmm

We absolutely loved our day with cooking Marrakech. The girls were on time meeting us in the square and we really enjoyed the shopping experience with them to buy fresh ingredients for dishes of our own choice. I don't think we met Sana, but the girls (Hind & Imam I think) were so down to earth, knowledgeable and funny -... More

We arrived at the cafe to meet at 9.45 so we could have a coffee and absorb the market atmosphere ax the day began ! Our contact was 45 mins late but apologetic and very lovely so no problem . We decided to cook chicken and a lamb dish and went to buy the ingredients. We did go and buy... More

A highlight of our trip, meeting Aida and Sana and learning the basics of moroccan cooking. It's an almost full days activity, so plan accordingly (about 5-6 hours). We booked online a day prior through their website. If you have any specific requests for what to learn, make sure to include in your booking (we wished we included Pastilla de... More

I had a great time on the cooking course with Sana. We met at a central location in the square, really easy to find, then went to buy our ingredients from the market. The hostel is lovely where we made the tagine and it tasted amazing! Highly recommended.

I love cooking and actually went into the class knowing that tagines are very easy to make if you just have the right ingredients...you basically throw stuff in a tagine and let it cook, so I wasn't expecting to sit over the stove cooking. Sana and Aida did a nice job getting us involved in chopping up vegetables (but please... More

Sana and Miriam were fun, easy going, knowledgeable and flexible. We only called that morning, a Sunday, asking if it would be possible to arrange a class, and they immediately accommodated us, even though myself and my friend ended up being the only two attending. I loved that when they took us to the market to buy ingredients they asked... More
