Worth a visit, but be warned there are terrible examples of animal cruelty- monkeys in nappies, with chains round their necks, harshly treated, snake charmers whose snakes have their mouths stiched up, terribly thin and sore infested donkeys and mules and overworked horses bearing SPANA anklets. Its an unpleasant place if you like animals. We ate at the food stalls,... More

do the souks in the morning as it gets very hot and stuffy after 1pm. the people are very friendly and always want to help but be aware they will lead you to their uncles/brothers/fathers/cousins/long lost relations - stall!!! but they do it in a very friendly manner and we never felt under pressure.

We stayed in the Kasbah area of the Medina which I would highly recommend. The Medina is a must visit and I can't imagine going to Marrakech if you do not stay in the traditional heart. It is surprisingly clean and you can just walk and experience the culture without it costing you anything at all.

A massive cultural shock for anyone who visits here! I am used to travelling to random places and even this shocked me! If you head to the old town Medina then be prepared for salesman running at your with monkeys and snakes trying to get photos and money from you. There are thousands of people here at one time so... Unless you want to live in luxury hotel I'd highly recommend staying in one of the many riads within the medina walls. And the medina is more then Jemaa El Fna.

Semi organized chaos!! Small alleyways everywhere so very easy to get lost, all sorts going on in the main square, day and night. An interesting experience.

Like nothing I've experienced before - we agreed we felt like we were on a movie set! Take time to explore the streets and alleys, it's much more exciting when you stray a bit away from the more touristy areas. Orange juice in the main bit is a must - very refreshing in the heat. Avoid snake charmers, monkeys and... More
