Loved the Bahia Palace, the decoration/architecture is amazing, and it was a cool haven in the heat of the day. The Sadian tombs were also worth a visit for the mosaics. The souks were fascinating but it was fatal to linger . . . the stall holders are very persuasive (but friendly!). We saw round the artisans quarter (with a... More

Imagine yourself in the footsteps of people who tread this path, narrow alleys, various flavours and sounds and calls. interspersed with modern galleries and restaurants. one can get lost here just wandering around not knowing what is around the corner. Highly recommended

It is like stepping into another world! The narrow streets are packed with people, donkeys, cars and lots and lots of motorbikes weaving in and out of the crowds. A map,is of little use here, we navigated our way around by remembering landmarks and learning 2 routes from our riad to the square (one in each direction from the front... More

On first sight, the Medina can be a bit scary - but it really just takes a little getting used to before you realise that it is simply fantastic.

We booked to stay at a Riad Hotel in the Medina for 3 days, it was a nightmare, we would never go back there again, we were violently accosted in the souks, this may be rare but it happend to us. Our experience was not pleasant at all, i am sure if you stay at a hotel away from the... More

It was a great experience to really get a sense of what the souks have been like for thousands of years. But the agressive tactics of the vendors was very annoying. Made laid back vibe in medina of Essouria much more enjoyable.
