Just a small area with some shops like Zara and Mango. There is a McDonald's as well. Really nothing worth visiting apart from if you maybe need a break from the busy Medina

Our hotel was in this area and it proved to be ideal for getting everywhere. Nearly everything is well within walking distance of the area (30mins to Jemma el Fna for example). Obviously the new part of the city and is therefore modern but still has a bit of character. Plenty of cash machines and fast food such as KFC,... More

Stayed in the Meriem Hotel Gueliz whilst visiting Marrakech. My husband and I found it a good place to stay. Not too far from the souks and Jemaa El Fna. Plenty of nice places to eat and some really lovely shops. It was nice to walk into a shop and not have to haggle. It was a good base to... More

I have been feeling bad in Jemaa el Fna because of too much going on and terrible smell so i escape to Gueliz! There are not much to see here but you can walk on the street and feel like nobody talks with you for some hours and not bad smell as much as the big square of Jemaa el... More

Ok not much to see but it has all the westerners want, shopping restaurants and in the hearth of the city.. Be warned parking is almost impossible and at night get really busy with traffic and shoppers. Its more of a shopping area than sightseeing but plenty of souvenir shops in the area

Best place for restrauntes and bars and a good base to explore the rest of the city. I personally found the old town quite intimidating, whereas guilez was more holiday like, with nice ice cream shops and good food. It costs like 20dh in taxi from guilez to old town, pay no more.

Apart from a few contemporary art galleries, there is nothing much for tourists to see in this area. However it is the best part of Marrakech to head to for restaurants, especially if you are looking for a change from the standard tagine and grilled meats. Many good French and Italian restaurants plus chinese, thai and lebanese cuisine can also... More

Gueliz is the area in new modern city of Marrakech. Nothing special in this square (international brands that you can find almost everywhere in big cities) but near to nice restaurants and coffee bars.
