Beautiful facility. Highly recommend the hiring of a guide unless one is familiar with the Muslim beliefs and practice. The facility is a cultural and educational site.

It's over an hour winding driving to get to Tin Mal from Imil. The scenery on the way is kind of interesting and there were a couple of abandoned kasbahs before you get to Tin Mal. The mosque is interesting but will not take take you more than 20 minutes to see. I'll say give it shot if you are... More

Beautiful mosque, worth seeing. 700 years old. A horse and cart ride will take there and other historic places

It's not a big detour, just a few minutes off the Tizi N'Test road, but really not much to see. Most of the site has been heavily restored, leaving only one aisle with the original stucco work for which the mosque is famous. The caretaker is not far away and you'll get in quickly, but don't allow more than 20... More

Tin Mal is a remote mosque in the Atlas mountains. If you have a car brave the dirt roads in the mountains and drive up from Marrakech, the route is beautiful and perfectly safe as long as you abide by one important rule - 'big' has priority, so pull over when a big lorry approaches. In the area close to... More

We drove from Marrakech through stunning scenery in The High Atlas to visit this exquisite 12th Century Almohad dynasty mosque. The winding road seemed to go on for ever and hardly another car in sight! A couple of local lads sitting outside greeted us and told us they would get the key to open up! The simplicity of the mosque... More

The Tin Mal Mosque is a mosque located in the High Atlas mountains of North Africa. It was built in 1156 to commemorate the founder of the Almohad dynasty, Mohamed Ibn Tumart. It is one of the two mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslims, the other being the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca. The prototype for the Tin Mal mosque... More

Hired a guide for the day - lovely guy but obviously he took me to the places and people he knew - so paid over the top for some things - I did go again by bus and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Mosque is a beautiful place and lovely to see.

Still being restored but really interesting to see the intricate work inside. Liked the journey to get there.
