This was a perfect introduction to the souk on our first full day in Marrakech. Four of us booked and were joined by a Dutch couple. Gemma met us in the main square and took us all around the souk, where each couple was tasked with collecting ingredients on an extensive shopping list (we were supplied with shopping bags and... Madness! Assault on the senses that has to be experienced. Get for sprices, leather & food. Worth booking a guide as they know where the taxis are!

We had a great day with Souk Cuisine. Met Gemma without any problems in the main square and within a few moments were in the souks with our shopping lists trying and buying. After an hour or two we went back to Gemma's house where mint tea and snacks were waiting. We then spent a couple of hours making various... More

My partner and I had such a great day with Souk Cuisine. It was a different experience. We found it really informative and fabulous value for money. Gemma happily answered all questions. Most importantly, the food and the company was top notch. Can't wait to get home to try the recipes in our new tagine :-)

There is hardly a word of the Times' recommendation that didn't set me up for disappointment: "The half-day workshop starts with a visit to the Rahba Kedima market to forage for quince, argan oil and other Moroccan ingredients. Classes convene in the courtyard of an old riad, where budding chefs learn how to make dishes like lamb tagine and raisin... More

Excellent combination of shopping for ingredients in the souks, then cooking and eating the dishes. Wish we'd done it right at the start of our holiday as it gave us a much better insight into how to negotiate the souks. The food was absolutely delicious and it was so lovely to work with Moroccan women, I may never chop an... More

Two adults signed up for the one-day cooking class. There were six of us in the group. The class began with a tour through the souks where each couple had a shopping list. We learned about spices, food preparation techniques. We even selected our chicken still alive. We toured the communal ovens. Back at the workshop, we cooked, with the... More

We were met in the main square by Gemma and taken shopping in the souks to purchase the food we were later to prepare , cook and eat. With our purchases we proceeded to a Riad in which was set up a kitchen with work stations. We were introduced to the support Chefs and then set to work preparing a... More

The riad where we stayed recommended Souk Cuisine. I booked well in advance, as I heard they can fill up fast and we were a group of 5. Traveling with our 16 year old daughter and her two friends, we wanted to have a fun experience with Moroccan cooking. I liked the Souk Cuisine package because it also involved food... More

I reviewed several cooking class options in Marrakech and Souk stuck out because it seemed like a more authentic experience (smaller groups, included shopping in the market and wasn't at a Western hotel). Gemma (who founded and owns the company) met us in the morning, gave out shopping lists & money and took us into the market to buy all... More
