My husband and I joined by four other people. We loved the guided tour of the souk as we crossed stuff our collective shopping list. We learned about the spices and met local vendors. Our took close to 2 hours to get our ingredients. Gemma took us to get house. It's beautiful. We were aided by two excellent chefs. They... More

We had a lovely day with Gemma. Five in our group, we enjoyed being able to ask lots of questions in the market when buying our purchases and really enjoyed the trip to the baker. We made several dishes, all delicious, we enjoyed the salads and the beef tagine and sardine tagine. Gemma bought some of the things we asked... More

Having been disappointed at the few excursions that would take 1 person, I stumbled across this gem. I've always enjoyed Moroccan cooking and I even own a Tagine, so the opportunity to learn from the locals was perfect. The owner, a Dutch lady called Gemma, runs a well organised set-up that gives you a hands-on experience of buying, preparing and... More

Gemma was a flexible and gracious hostess and a good cook and teacher too. There were six clients so we all were able to help with any dish we chose after shopping in the souks. We cooked in Gemma's house that has a very practical and beautiful set up for cooking and enjoying the meal. We managed to make several... More

Our lovely host, Gemma- who has been in Marrakech for 9 years, took us on a bespoke tour of the souqs. Along the way we bought our ingredients for our 4 course lunch and even had time to stop in the spice shop to discover raw indigo. Our four fellow chefs, who were Dutch, endeavoured to speak in English where... More

This was a perfect introduction to the souk on our first full day in Marrakech. Four of us booked and were joined by a Dutch couple. Gemma met us in the main square and took us all around the souk, where each couple was tasked with collecting ingredients on an extensive shopping list (we were supplied with shopping bags and... Madness! Assault on the senses that has to be experienced. Get for sprices, leather & food. Worth booking a guide as they know where the taxis are!

We had a great day with Souk Cuisine. Met Gemma without any problems in the main square and within a few moments were in the souks with our shopping lists trying and buying. After an hour or two we went back to Gemma's house where mint tea and snacks were waiting. We then spent a couple of hours making various... More

My partner and I had such a great day with Souk Cuisine. It was a different experience. We found it really informative and fabulous value for money. Gemma happily answered all questions. Most importantly, the food and the company was top notch. Can't wait to get home to try the recipes in our new tagine :-)

There is hardly a word of the Times' recommendation that didn't set me up for disappointment: "The half-day workshop starts with a visit to the Rahba Kedima market to forage for quince, argan oil and other Moroccan ingredients. Classes convene in the courtyard of an old riad, where budding chefs learn how to make dishes like lamb tagine and raisin... More
