The riad where we stayed recommended Souk Cuisine. I booked well in advance, as I heard they can fill up fast and we were a group of 5. Traveling with our 16 year old daughter and her two friends, we wanted to have a fun experience with Moroccan cooking. I liked the Souk Cuisine package because it also involved food... More

I reviewed several cooking class options in Marrakech and Souk stuck out because it seemed like a more authentic experience (smaller groups, included shopping in the market and wasn't at a Western hotel). Gemma (who founded and owns the company) met us in the morning, gave out shopping lists & money and took us into the market to buy all... More

My husband and I just spent the day with Gemma and her team and enjoyed every minute. Wandering the souks looking for ingredients, we learned what to look for in the best preserved lemons, saffron and ras el hanout (head of the shop) and countless other typical Moroccan products. Best of all, we marched our trays to the local communal... More

My boyfriend and I booked onto Gemma's cooking course in late December and right from the start we had a fantastic time. We all met Gemma in the Djemma el Fna square where we then split into groups and armed with a shopping list, headed into the souks to buy the day's ingredients. We were (thankfully!) accompanied by Gemma who... More

I loved this cooking class! It was one of the best things we did in Marrakech. It was so nice to buy our own ingredients and then be able to make delicious local dishes out of them. After the shopping was done we split into teams to make salads, tagines, biscuits and other treats. The chef's watched over us but... More

We were a bunch of friends taking this cookingclass and Gemma and her assistant Iris met us in front of Cafe de France. We went shopping in the souk for all kinds of ingredients - spices, vegetables, fish, poultry, bread - which was a lot of fun and good learning about Moroccan culture! We then went to Gemmas Riad and... More

This cooking course was the first thing my sister and I booked in Marrakech. We were SO excited to take the class, and I reserved the spots a month in advance. When I sent the confirmation e-mail, I included all kinds of information, including my credit card number to keep our places. A few days before, when I wrote for... More

We thought this cooking course looked so interesting that it was the first thing we booked in Morocco! We included our credit card information, etc. However, a day before the class was supposed to start and following an email that we wrote them asking about meeting place, we found out (to our surprise) that we were not included in the... As everyone else has said Gemma is really knowledgable and organizes a great experience from the souks to the kitchen. If you want to learn about Moroccan cuisine and culinary culture take this class, you won't regret it!

This was a fantastic day starting in the souks, we met Gemma in the main square where we were given a shopping list, bags and money. We then perused the various stalls including mint (of course), spice, vegetables and bakery. Meanwhile Gemma explained the uses for various ingredients and also the best places to source them. For us, this was... More
