We've taken cooking classes all over the globe, but none have compared with Souk Cuisine. It starts with a "trail by fire" of shopping in the hurried markets—Gemma gives you money for ingredients, but insists you get local prices—then finishes with a relaxed and educational cooking experience in her home. The meal we prepared was epic and made for a... more

I strongly recommend this activity if you are keen to learn about the local culture. The morning in the souks was very informative with lots of fun and memorable moments. We cooked in a very charming area which makes the whole experience even better. The food was absolutely great and we could taste it with a delicious Moroccan wine -... more

Our day with Souk Cuisine was a great value, especially when you consider $50 per person paid for a whole day of instruction(10am to 3:30/4pm). Spending the am in the Souk (market) to buy ingredients meant learning a few key Arabic words, learning Souk etiquette (don't over handle the produce!!!), being invited behind the counters of several small shops, briefly... more

Our day spent with Souk Cuisine was informative, enjoyable and relaxed. We found Gemma to be totally professional, she was attentive to her clients without being overbearing, had an excellent rapport with local stall holders, had planned the day well for the number of clients and was very good company too. Our group comprised 5 or 6 different nationalities, ranging... more

This was a very full (10am to almost 4pm - possibly as our group was quite large) and informative day - this is not just about cooking but a comprehensive guided tour of parts of the souks that you would not have access to. Do not approach it as a technical cooking course in which you will learn skills but... more

I recently spent two weeks in Morrocco, and was fortunate to have booked a day with Gemma and Souk Cuisine. The entire day was well planned and managed, as otehrs have mentioned - the day started with a shopping trip which was great fun and very informative. Then back to Gemma's beautiful Riad. With the help of her staff we... more

Gemma was very pleasant, organised and completely in control of what was happening, and it was one of the best experiences I had in Morocco. It was great fun buying our ingredients in the souks, meeting the shop-owners, and then cooking it all. The group we were with were great, there was 6 of us and we all got along... more

Just got back from 4 days in Marrakech and spent our last day at Souk Cuisine. I must say it was one of the best days of our holiday! Interesting, sociable, entertaining, delicious, calming and educational are the best words to describe our day. As I'm sure you've already heard from previous reviews, we spent the first part of the... more

This was truly an authentic experience! SHOPPING: We all met at the market from where we started out the shopping tour. The 13 of us where split in 2 groups given a shopping list, a bag and some money. We were in the group with Gemma and she provided great advise what to look out for when buying the ingredients.... more

I feel I must defend Ms. Gemma Van De Burght. My partner and I attended Souk Cuisine for a day last month, and found it a really enjoyable experience. Gemma is a very well-organised, efficent lady and is of a fairly quiet disposition. She has a limited amount of time to have clients prepare and cook ingredients, and I'm positive... more
