This is a great music festival, with many different types of music, Some of the organization could be improved. The method for buying tickets from abroad, then getting a voucher and having to exchange it for the actual tickets is more confusing than it should be - especially because the instructions for exchanging them are not complete and the people... This was my second visit to the Festival and I thought the music this year was exceptionally well chosen. Although I did not like some of the more jazzy collaborations, it was wonderful to find so many styles and approaches in one week, from the large productions in Bab Makina, to the more intimate Sufi and 'Nights in the Medina'.... Morocco prides itself for its openness to all spiritual paths and the sacred music festival is just that. It is less a performance and more a sharing of what nourishes the soul in diverse cultures. Sit out under a blanket of stars, night after night, in the open amphitheater with people from all over the world and drink in the... More

The 2012 Fes Festival of World Sacred Music still enchanted both long time afficionados and first time visitors -- but mostly via the more intimate afternoon performances under the great Barbary Oak in the gardens of the Batha Museum. There was an emphasis this year on more popular entertainment. Bjork certainly attracted a huge crowd of mostly affluent middle class... More

Thefe is great music from all over the world at this festival...free concerts at night with a backdrop of the medina walls, and international stars at 4 and 8:30 every night (you must buy tickets for those). It is an international crowd and a real experience!

Eighteen years ago it was an excellent initiative to give the city of Fez a surge and its visitors a music festival of great delicacy. Balanced programming of musical styles in a wide variety, by performers of outstanding quality was savored by a knowledgeable audience. Now, with a new artistic director, who has seemingly given in to pressure of sponsors'... More

Variety, sincerity… but a little malorganised. This annual event is worth attending. So many aspects, so many dimensions, so many emotions… The whole city of Fes is engaged and the Fassies are very proud of their Festival

This iconic festival is now in its 16th year. I have been to every edition since 2003 except for 2009. There is a unique magic attached to the event. It transcends other great festival experiences because Fes is an ancient city that exudes the effects of centuries of religious fervour. As a result of mass tourism it does now have... More
