I was expecting a bit more but the Grand Poste is a beautiful building on the inside. Great mosaic and wood-work. Good for a 10 minute stop while on the way to somewhere else.

The Grande Posted is a must see for any tour of Algiers. It is still a functioning post office with incredible interior craftsmanship. The wood and stop work is incredible right in the middle of town. It's a great meeting point and you can use it as the start/stop point for the east-west metro. It's probably the best downtown landmark... More

It's true beauty is in the inside. Neo-Moorish architectural beauty that is aged. It's a throw back in time as you step through the doors. If taking pics, don't take shots of the counters or people or the authorities will stop you. Stand near the entrance for a general overall shot which is acceptable to them.

This is a really breathtaking and unique place, the craft is beyond imagination and it hasn't changed with the years.

Very beautiful interior, and a Megestic outside. the post is still in use. This is the first landmark in Algiers even for locals. From there you can go to Didouche or the Casbah.

magnificent edifice in central Algiers. Like what European Post Offices must have been in the old days. If you just need stamps, go to counter 19. 40 DZD to post something to Europe.
