A beautiful place to go to unwind. Every year there is a new theme. I have seen aliens, legos and butterfly sculptures through the years. They have fun seasonal events as well such as breakfast with the Easter bunny,

My four year old did NOT want to leave! We were there in early spring when there really wasn't that much garden "action" but he loved it just the same. The children's area is top notch and the orchid room was beautiful.

The gardens on their own are beautiful and well landscaped and kept. There are several nice shade trees near the back with adirondack chairs. There are often many birds and bees sipping on the flowers. The year 'round prize in my view is the indoor butterfly garden. On a cold winter's day, it's fun to come in here and experience... More

The garden and butterfly exhibit were much smaller than we had expected. Nonetheless, for the reasonable price it was a nice hour spent out of the Iowa winter cold. The butterflies were beautiful. I'm sure kids would really enjoy the experience but not sure there is enough to do to keep their attention for long.

Went to Iowa in January and certainly didn't expect to see orchids and butterflies! Very nicely designed outdoor and indoor spaces for movies, exhibits, etc. The butterfly space is small but well done, and it's neat that you can see the entomologists working with the chrysalis pods in the lab through windows. Very cute gift shop. Last but not least,... More

First off, we are prejudiced! We are members of Reiman. The Gardens are very diverse and contain an amazing variety of permanent plantings and beautiful seasonal plants and flowers. There are usually both permanent and temporary pieces of outdoor artworks, quite often reflecting an annual Spring to Fall theme. There are special exhibits for children, and the younger set is... This was our first time to visit and I loved it. I picked this event in our travels because I wanted to escape the cold and snow outside. Inside was warm and relaxing. I just loved watching the butterflies interact with nature and people. I could have stayed for hours (tricking my mind into thinking it was summer). The volunteers... More

Always have visited in December when my husband attends a track clinic in Ames. His comment on the butterfly wing was that it reminded him of the playground at recess(we are both retired teachers) with the perpetual motion of the butterflies but with one exception-the silence! Such a nice relaxing place to visit on a cold winter day. The conservatory... More
