We spent the last night of a recent cross-country trip in Ames. When we booked our lodging, the hotel mentioned being close to some "gardens" near the university - so, not knowing what we would find, we decided to make them our one "local flavor" stop before our last day's drive home. This attraction is located on the south end... More

We have never been to the gardens, and unfortunately, we did not have enough time to explore all the displays and gardens! We really enjoyed the Bonsai seminar and displays.

The Reiman Gardens are a beautiful and tranquil place to visit in the busy college town of Ames about half an hour North of Des Moines. Located just far enough from campus so parking is not a problem (except on football days), I arrived after a thunderstorm had come through, so it was a little cloudy and wet, but I... More

We were looking for something to do that out 14 month old son would enjoy as well. The children's garden was wonderful! The paths and gardens were beautiful. Butterfly house was amazing! Very educational as well. Thank you!

Loved the butterfly house and surrounding gardens. I highly recommend this stop. Wish I live closer to see the seasons change.

During the spring and fall when all the flowers are blooming is the best time to go. They offer venues you can rent, but also nice for pictures, and just exploring with family or friends. There is a butterfly garden, a giant nome, and different artist sculptures designed every year.I would recommend visiting.

If you choose to go here allow yourself at lease 3 to 4 hours or longer depending if you like the out doors. We didn't get to see but only half of it and what we did see was kind of rushed. We also went into the butterfly house, a must see and it never disappoints. Next year we will... More

I was very stressed out after dropping my son off at Iowa State and was looking for a quiet, peaceful activity. I had heard good things about Reiman Gardens and I am so glad I visited. All of the employees (or perhaps volunteers) were so pleasant and helpful and full of knowledge. The butterfly gardens was awesome! So many pretty... More

This place was amazing. It was so peaceful walking in the gardens. I guess every year they have a theme. It was so fun finding all the painted aliens this year. And don't miss the giant gnome Elwood.
