I've been living in Honolulu for a couple months now, and I ride the bus everyday out of necessity. It is awful. I've used the bus systems in multiple college towns as well as Boston, Chicago, and LA. The Bus is by far the worst. It arrives 15-20 minutes early/late reguoarly, and sometimes it won't show at all (with no... More

Decided to get out of Honolulu for a trip - but not really keen on a rental car - took the 55 bus from Ala Moana to the Windward Coast. Travelling over the mountain range was a cool trip but I would recommend getting off no further along than the Polynesian Cultural Centre as it becomes a long day if... More

You don't need a car in Honolulu as The Bus provides such a great and cheap service to most places you need to go. It pays to remember about the "transfer" which means you can hop across multiple busses inside your "transfer" period and it only costs $2.50. If staying in Waikiki t helps to get the map showing the... More

I ride the bus several times per week and I have to say that the bus system in this city is so efficient you can set your watch to..it most of the time. I am able to plan a trip get to where I need to go on time. I know this would not be possible if it were not... More

If you are planning to ride the bus a lot make sure to visit an ABC Store to purchase the bus pass for 35$. It is really worth it.. if your lucky you can even get away with using it more than 4 days due to a lot of drivers not even checking it. ;)

A real adventure. The terminal is at the Ala Mona shopping centre. You need to talk with the drivers who are so use to the tourist that the are the unsung heroes of the island. The waves were45 ft high on the north shore so off we went. We took the 55 to the north shore and then got off... More

We were in Oahu for a couple of days, and we used The Bus throughout our stay, including while going to the North Shore. The bus stops cover most of the hotels and resorts in Waikiki. The website was helpful as we could get expected times of arrival, and the various bus routes available. Even the bus drivers are very helpful.... More

Overall, am happy with buying a 4 day visitor pass for $35. I didn't want to rent a car in Honolulu so this was a good alternative. Lots of bus stops on major streets & on Kuhio Street in Waikiki. The Bus goes to pretty much all the touristy places on Oahu. It can get crowded on the bus. I... More

We bought a four-day bus pass and chose TheBus as our main mode of transportation because it was more cost-effective than renting a car. In addition to a daily car rental charge, there's the high gas prices, especially in Hawaii; and, the difficulty of find parking in Waikiki because most of 'em charge to park! I read some reviews where... More
