I have to say, as a person who relies on bus transportation that the bus system is a heart ache and grief for bus drivers and us patrons. In town it functions fairly well, coming mostly 20-30 minutes or more. However on the windward side for those who rely on it, wait a period of 45 minutes to an hr... More

I was quite pleased with our experience using The Bus on Oahu. We didn't have any real dramas with buses not being on time (but then again, we were on holidays and weren't pressed for time), being over crowded (only saw it once) or being expensive ($2.50 flat rate, and you can get transfers if you need to change lines).... If you're trying to get to somewhere in Honolulu, grab The Bus, which has routes taking you all around the main areas of this city. The drivers are very helpful and give good advice to you. You pay for your ticket by putting the cash into a receiver next to the driver, you get a paper ticket in return and... More

As visitors this was by far the best way to get around - we used it to go to Alo Moana and back loved the drivers they were great. We wished we had more time to take a drive to different beaches but being time poor we paid for a tour. Don't use the trolley use the bus - wish... More

Nice drivers but you'll be waiting 30-40 minutes for a bus. Don't rely on the schedules from Google maps or www.thebus.org because in my experience they were wrong. If you need to get anywhere by a deadline give yourself 30 mins more or just rent a car, which i found was the best way to get around and actually see... More

took a circle island tour with a stop in Haleiwa for only five bucks! I recommend you give your self at least five hours for the trip. And bring a sweater!

Cheap efficient transport. Good schedules to most areas. The bus from Pearl Harbour proved to be very popular and was very crowded. I am amazed at what people bring onto the bus. There was a family with 4 children and two strollers and back packs. They struggled with their gear and it was blocking the isle but people are very... More

Rode The Bus from The Arizona Memorial into Waikiki...a great value and a great view into the non-touristy side of Oahu. I would not take this ride at night. The Bus has a website but it took me a while to figure out our options for getting into Waikiki. That being said, the bus drivers were very helpful; they would... More

After checking the high prices of taxis, we decided to use The Bus. For seniors with a US Medicare card, it is only $1 USD and a very comfortable way to get abound Honolulu. Yes, the buses are a bit crowded, but they are in good condition, are clean, and we always felt safe. We never waited more than a... More

As I was vacationing, not on a time constraint, I did not mind all the stops. Met some great and helpful people on the bus. ONE TIP If you are an international senior and want to ride the bus alot, take your passport to the middle street bus station and get a senior card. It is $10. and $5. a... More
