It’s also well known for strong tradewinds, forming a natural wind tunnel of sorts. It was here in 1795 that Kamehameha The Great conquered the island of Oahu in one of the bloodiest battles in Hawaiian history. Led by Kalanikupule, the defenders of Oahu were driven back up into the valley where they were trapped above the cliff. More than 400 of Kalanikupule's soldiers were driven off the edge of the cliff to their deaths 1,000 feet below. « less

We were awestruck by what we saw from the Pali Overlook: exquisite, 180 degree views of breathtaking sky, sea, and mountains. Of all the amazing sights in Hawaii, this is one of the most jaw-dropping. Bring your jacket - the wind is cold and strong up there. Your hair will be sticking straight up in all the photos. You won't... More

On a clear day the view is awesome. Pali lookout was the location of the decisive battle won by King Kamehameha. The victors forced the vanquished over the cliff - they took no prisioners. More

This lookout gives you a great view of Honolulu and Diamond Head. It is not far from Waikiki. It is worth a quick stop to take some pictures. More

My wife and I decided to stop at the lookout on our way to exploring the east side of Oahu. Just minutes after arriving it began to rain. (not uncommon up there) The view is simply amazing and definitely worth the stop if your in the area. Even if your not in the area, it is still worth the trip.... More

Stand on the top of a 2000 ft cliff and get blown away literally. Very windy, $3 parking for tourists but worth it. More

Must see! It can be quite windy once you walk out to the look out, but the view is majestic and oversees most of the Windward side of Kaneohe and Kailua, and also includes views of Kaneohe Bay. Breathtaking. Don't leave any valuables in your car - this place has been known to have car break ins. Take a light... More

This always a fun place when the winds are blowing. Always use caution and never leave anything of value in the vehicle even though there might be a Police Officer present More

I love this place. This is a lookout where the road used to come from downtown and headed over the steep cliffs of the Pali. The view is breath taking to say the least. I have live here all of my life and I am still amazed by the view. The area where the lookout is where the road used... More
