I only watched the documentary 'The Legend Of Eddie Aikau' for the 1st time a few months ago - it was then that a visit to Waimea became a must. As with other big wave beaches in Hawaii, they are tranquil beaches during the summer half of the year - flat as a tack - which produce 40'-50' waves in... More

If you're visiting during the winter months, chances are good that you'll get to see some huge waves. This world famous beach is known for holding the Eddie Aikau Big Wave surfing contest when the wave sizes permit. During the summer months the waves are calmer and good for swimming and relaxing on the beach. Excellent for the family, but... More

Nice beach; we got lucky and found parking on a weekend since there was some light rain. Who cares when you're in the water, right? The sun came out right after we arrived and no more rain. Swimming was nice, snorkeling was subpar but I did score a swim with a turtle. Definitely the highlight of Waimea Beach. It gets... More

My son jumped off the rock and we also followed a small sea turtle around next to it for about 10 minutes. The water was beautiful and very refreshing on the hot muggy day it was.

Great beach, beautiful water, there is a church down the road that allows people to park so that was helpful.

Throughly enjoyed the time i spent at Waimea Beach. Although not recommended, was a heap of fun jumping off the jump rock at the beach and was a bonus that we saw turtles.

We really enjoy coming to this beach whenever we're in Oahu. We usually arrive in the evening so there hasn't been a problem with parking. We love sitting on the beach and watching the waves until sunset, and the sunsets here are usually gorgeous.

Beautiful beach. We had planned on snorkeling, but it had rained and the water was too murky for good snorkeling. We had fun watching everyone jump off the rock, but decided that maybe that wouldn't be a good idea for 2 40 somethings to try!

We noted this beach after visiting Dole Plantation but were unable to get a parking spot that day. The parking is VERY limited. It is a beautiful bay with gentle waves. After reading other reviews, we came early one morning and did not have any trouble finding a spot. We found out that there are surfing competitions in this bay... More

We stopped here on the way home today. It was a blast! I got to jump off this huge rock. Make sure you are a strong swimmer as the waves are rough and break near shore. Also parking is very limited. Enjoy!
