Scenic, clean and large parking lot with bathrooms on site. We were there early am, not many people except a few surfers and a couple fisherman. Nice place for walking.

We went in November and there was only one day that the waves allowed us to swim. (This isn't your local pool.) Despite that, there were quite a few people in the water and the lifeguard crew was kept busy and did an awesome job. A lot of people stop by to see the waves and the regulars that are... More

Couldn't swim/didn't want to swim there because during the winter months, the waves are to high and the current/under toes are way to strong. So be careful. I hear its a good boogie boarding beach, but again, do not go out if you are a beginner and there are warnings.

We wanted to go to Maimea bay and sunset to catch the surfing and see the beach as we are from Manly natural sort of thing to do. Took the 55 bus from Ala moana and it was a long long trip of about 2hr 30 min. Best to take a warm jacket as the AC in the bus was... More

This place is one of the prettiest places i have ever been. The road getting here was a bit of a bear though and the parking is horrendous. We ended up circling for quite sometime until something opened up on the street. It was a nice view from where we parked, once we actually parked. There was a secret lil... More

Had to make it out for the huge waves. Lifeguards on duty and politely warning visitors of the dangers of the rough surf. Waves will fool you as to their size from the beach, until you see a guy out there getting swallowed by some huge swells. Glad we had the chance to see the Hawaiian giants, no records but... More

Waikiki doesn't know how to be a beach so we rented a car to see some sights, including a drive around the island. About 40 minutes out of Waikiki we reached Waimea Bay (and Sunset beach, Banzai Pipeline)...I was in a rented Mustang with a blonde next to me and felt that I was lost in a Beach Boys' song.... Nice beach and nice place to enjoy a sunset. There is parking available but this is a popular beach and many time the lot is full and street packing full as well. High surf the day we went so water activities were discouraged. Went for the sunset, but unfortunately a big bank of dark clouds obscured the sunset. Still got... More

We initially stopped here on our first day sightseeing the north shore. We immediately knew we had to come back to lay out and relax. Our second time here was amazing as we did absolutely nothing. The crowds were much smaller than Waikiki and more relaxed. Hated to leave and time seemed to slow down while at Waimea. Waves were... More

I was here in November 2014. Of the two days we visited one day was super calm waters and the other the waves were large and treacherous making swimming a no go. The beach is beautiful and the water unparalleled in color. There is a large rock that many locals were jumping off of into the breakwater. It looked fun... More
