The other viewers have covered the details of the walk. The weekends are very busy and parking is limited. I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH NOT TO LEAVE ANYTHING OF VALUE IN YOUR CAR OR TRUNK. My purse was stolen our of a locked car the last visit. The view is awesome but just proceed on the side of caution.

this is a must do, go early in the morning, take water, walk the trail up to the top and view the lighthouse.

If you don't want to do the lighthouse trail you can still take in the breathtaking view from the top. This is a breath-taking landscape along the southeastern shoreline of Oahu, HI. The drive along this shoreline is amazing and there are spots to pull over and take pictures and go to the beach. It's a must see if you visit Oahu.

My wife and I decide to hike to the Makapu'u Point Lighthouse when we were doing the "tourist" thing riding around Oahu. It's worth a stop. Beautiful views of the ocean, the peninsula and overlooking everything. Fantastic view, especially to watch the paragliders performing, they are like birds and over the lovely water and next to the cliffs amazing to see. Lighthouse just round the corner too, great to visit.

My two favorite viewpoints on Oahu were the views from Diamond Head and the view from Makapu'u Point -- gorgeous! On a clear, sunny day, you won't find a better view. We stopped at the lookout south and uphill from the Makapu'u Beach Park. Be sure to take your camera.
