The hike down & back was fantastic. The tour? A colossal waste of money. FIFTY bucks/person to be stuck listening to ridiculous details about who lives where, when you can get gas, etc. It felt like we were being oriented as new residents rather than being provided an accurate, historic account of a dreadful era in Hawaii's history. Too much... More

My party of five was EXTREMELY disappointed with the Molokai tour upon our vacation to Maui last week. It was boring, to say the least, and did not meet the expectations that are advertised to lure visitors. The visit to the coffee plantation was a joke! Seeing the actual process of harvesting/roasting the coffee beans would have been nice, but... More

I have traveled the world and taken many tours but none have spiritually moved me as much as the Father Damien Tour of Molokai. Our guide, Yeayin, was exceptional. His attention to detail and knowledge of the area made for a very interesting day. As a young child, the story of Father Damien and Mother Maryanne was facinating to me.... More

The tour has been upgraded considerably. John, our local tour guide, was pleasant and fun and full of facts. He even sang a beautiful Hawaiian chant for us at the grave site of St. Marianne. The tour was equal parts history, religious pilgrimage, and awe-inspiring cliffline vistas. Tour was the only way to see "The Colony" and worth every penny.... More

I have been on this tour several times since the first time I went in 1975, there have been many changes and many fewer residents. The conservation work is continuous and the peninsula has much more vegetation now - lovely trees and ferns surround the ancient walls and the foundations of buildings no longer there. Old Kalawao town site is... More

Finally got a chance to visit Molokai for a day and I was not disappointed in this visit to the Kalaupapa national park. The views were absolutely beautiful. Those high sea cliffs are a sight to behold. We decided to do the hike down to Kalaupapa. I loved this hike! 6 Miles roundtrip along the cliffs & the path is... More

We actually did this back in 2004. We rode mules down to the colony. We loved the tour but really loved our tour guide Richard. He was excellent and had a great sense of humor. It's rich in history and beautiful. This is something that won't be around much longer so do it while you get the chance.

Damien Tours takes you on a tour of the Kalaupapa peninsula where, from the late 1800's into the 1900's, people with Hansen's disease (aka leprosy) were isolated against their will. Since the disease was cured in the mid-1900's, residents have been free to leave, but many chose to stay in what had become a strong community. About a dozen former... More

I tried to book a tour with Damien Tours for hiking down to Kalalau and wanted to get time and price and how to go about it. When I mentioned that the Mule Ride was full she hung up on me, She was short and rude. This is not a place I want to do business with. I am glad... More

The hike down and up the cliff is quite the workout, but the views are fantastic. We did the hike rather than taking the mules, but I spoke with many muleriders who enjoyed it. The actual tour of Kalaupapa was just OK, it was very slow and the bus was so filthy you could barely see through the windows. The... More
