The top 2-3 feet of water in Molokini Crater has all this plastic garbage floating around. Tiny pieces of plastic, everywhere. Very disgusting. The water near my hotel beach was cleaner than this, with fish too. Yes, there were cool fish underneath, toward the bottom, but its not worth the boatride and cost to get out there to swim around... Like most attractions in Maui, you're going to have to plan to pay more than you may have expected to take a cruise out to the Molokini Crater, but if you have no shame in utilizing the coupons readily available at the hotel (any hotel in Lahaina) or on your Safeway receipt (the only major grocery store in Lahaina), you... Started the day off meeting a friendly and helpful crew. Captain John found a pod of whales and got us within a respectful distance. He opted not to take us to the crater as it was very windy that day. His alternate destination was calm, smooth, serene and filled with ocean life. The food was plentiful and even my picky... More

Molokini is a great snorkeling spot! Actually in Maui it's probably the best one. It demands you half a day because of the road and boat trips, as the tour leaves only from Maalea Bay and I was hosted at Wailea Beach. If arriving there is difficult, when you get to the island the nature makes it worth everything! It... More

My wife and I have snorkeled many, many places around Maui and Oahu and I'm going to confess that our bar of excellence is probably higher than most. Most Molokini Crater trips provide the same things ... snorkel gear, snacks to eat, and something to drink so I decided to write a report on the island crater itself instead of... More

Bright water with a lot of life under its surface - colorful coral reef with all the amazing fishes around. We went there twice in three days because we were totally amazed by it. In addition second time we spotted a monk seal there as well.

We had a wonderful trip for 1/2 specifically for snorkeling! I would say we enjoyed the whale watching both directions far more than the snorkeling experience! I would agree with others comments that if you are an experienced snorkeler, there is better, but the trip there and back was VERY enjoyable as well for other reasons!

For first time snorklers this is OK, but if you are experiend - don't bother. Too many people, not much to see, and it was too much to deep for snorkeling.

I recommend the QuickSilver boat as they have a great trip and the price is good. First off while you do not want to wake up early you have to take the early boat or the seas will get too high and you will end up with nothing. I suggest that you rent snorkel equipment before you get on the... More

We went to Molokini on the advice of my sister who listed this as her favorite thing she did in Maui. I went in with high expectation and it didn't disappoint. The water is crystal clear with a beautiful coral reef and colourful fish. It's just mesmerizing to watch the fish interact with each other and their environment. There are... More
