Great for snorkeling!

The crater itself is quite a spectacle and once you get in the water the coral (and fish) are right up there amongst the better snorkeling spots in the world. However, the number of tour boats anchored up is really quite depressing. Each boat is only allocated a very small area in which its passengers can snorkel. This means limited... More

This place is really cool, definitely worth to visit while in Maui. We took the pride of Maui tour charter to go there and the trip was really amazing. The water is crystal clear and quite warm, you don't need to pay extra money and rent a wet suite (they will offer that in the boat and say the water... More

Molokini is nice too look at but us humans need to stay away. Our snorkeling money would be spent better elsewhere perhaps a private tour or boat rental. We need to let Molokini come back. Let the coral regrow. Limit the number of hymns that can go to this site please so it will be there for generations. The coral... More

Although maui offers a lot of snorkeling on its beaches, the molokini crater snorkel is worth the boat trip. The amount of fish at the crater is a lot more, and the water is clear. On a sunny day, the visibility is perfect.

Had a beautiful boat ride to Molokini, saw whales on the way, and spent the morning there snorkeling. We used Four Winds (see link below and my separate review) and would use them again. Note that they have a "glass bottom" on the boat for kids to see the fish at the site.

Loved the snorkeling here. Lots of people say that they couldnt do anything here because the conditions were windy, but we must have gotten lucky because waters were very calm. Visibility was great, we could easily see 25-30 feet down. I saw tons of fish and enjoyed it, but I can see how we might have just gotten lucky because... More

Sometimes something is raved about so much that it's hard for it to live up to the hype. That's the way Molokini was for me. There's a difference in good visibility and good snorkeling. Molokini undoubtedly has good visibility. This means you can see far. It doesn't necessarily mean the things you see will be outstanding (or certainly not any... More

We went on this trip - the snorkeling is great. The water is so clear and it is in a beautiful volcanic crater. No fishing allowed, no taking of coral, no activity but snorkeling or scuba allowed. Make sure you get a wet suit because even though the water is warm, you will still lose a lot of body heat... More

We took a half day snorkel cruise out here - sorry I can't remember the name of the tour company we used! Anyway, we hit up Molokini and saw a bunch of one type of black fish (can't remember that either). Other than that, my hubby saw a reef shark but we saw no turtles. The following day we'd run...
