This ride is everything everyone says about it - breathtaking yet terrifying. If you, and your crew, are up for it then have at it. As I placed in the title, you may pack an extra pair of shorts for the trip in case some of the drive becomes a bit too much. Please check road conditions as parts are... More

I went on highway 340 from the Lahaina side after reading all the reviews, watching YouTube videos etc. We were driving a Toyota Corolla, but we saw many other drivers successfully travel the road in jeeps, mustangs and even a mini-van (!!). We encountered several cars and even had to back up a couple of times but honestly as long... More

Unique experience ... 1 lane road in many places, cliff on one side, falling rock wall on the other. At the start of it going clockwise there were great views of the ocean full of surfers. Didn't know anything about it going in so wasn't sure if it was even a road we should be driving on ... Saw a... More

This road is the scariest road I have ever been on. It narrows to one lane. And I mean just enough room between the cliff and the ledge. Not a small drop but a cliff down to the ocean. My husband and I had no clue the road was just going to narrow to this extent. We got to the... More

Yes, it was a little scary. To know that going in would be nice. We had no clue. It is sooooo beautiful! I would say don't go at night or in rain. Make sure you have a full tank of gas. So memorable, highly recommend.

My husband and I accidentally ended up on this road the morning of our wedding day. It was by far the most horrifying experience of my life. We were in a tiny Chevy Sonic and barely fit on this one lane dirt road that is on the side of a 300 ft cliff with no guardrail! The scenery was breathtaking,... More

We drove a van (probably not the best vehicle) around this side of the island. What fantastic views. Made lots of stops, including banana bread and took lots of pictures. It was definitely an adventure I would do again. Just drive slow and you won't have any problems.

I am not sure what I was thinking when I decided to take this road, but the scenery was well worth it. I am so glad I did this trip 3 days before the October 2006 Sunday AM earthquake which I also had the fun of experiencing 9 stories up. All the stories you hear on trip advisor are true,... More

Sure it gets down to one lane but we were in a four door Jeep and were never worried. Few people do this so there isn't really many times you'll have to worry about coming up to someone during a one lane. I wouldn't call this scary but I would say it is more aggressive than Hana. You'll drive slowly... More

Wife keeps asking - "Are you sure Frommers suggested this route?" Guys, if you want to stay married stay off this road. Especially do not drive it going counter-clockwise (as you will be on outside lane of basically what should be considered a one lane road.) Makes Road to Hana look laughably easy. There are no guard rails and you... More
