This was a wrong turn for us. The Highway 340, as some might call it, suicide highway is not for the new driver. Driving in this highway could cost you your life and ruin everybody's vacation. I drove through here by mistake, we were so excited to see the sights of Maui, we forgot to attend the Hotel orientation, which... More

Beautiful, incredible drive. Do not miss this! Head out early in the morning and enjoy the incredible views. Take your time, don't take silly risks and you will be fine. This was a highlight for us.

Scariest road I have ever been on!.. one lane roads (dirt) which are cliffside.... didn't help things as I was with my German friend whom drove like he was on the autobahn...!! The road to Hana is nothing in comparison to this wild ride.

Great views, very narrow one lane road in spots. I think most tourist go clockwise. A school bus past us several times out of nowhere. Also met a cement truck. The views from the road and pull offs were worth the slow go traffic

We have read so much about the perils of this road and to be frank, I was a bit anxious and we met people along the route at the lookout spots who were turning back, but we ventured on. Road signs said the road would be closed at route marker 10 miles but on the day we went it was... More

I wanted to make a loop around the north part of Maui so I drove highway 340 after highway 30 ended. The views (what I saw of them) were spectacular. I dove the road to Hana 5 times with no problem. It has some 1 lane bridges and roads but nothing like this. I was at times afraid to take... More

Absolutely great road to drive. Spectacular views, road quality is excellent (fully paced and good quality, currently there is even a repaving in progress giving the final stretch better asphalt and widening the road where possible). Pitoresque village with great Banana bread (I recommend Lorraine!). The road is locally very narrow (barely one lane wide) and there are many corners... More

I'm a great driver and did the Road to Hana in a breeze. However, even if you are a great driver you need to consider the risks beyond your control on Highway Route 340. First, looking at the map, you may think you'll make it to the other side before dark; but you need to allow a few hours because... More

We decided to take up the challenge to go through the northwest part of Maui, driving from Napilli to Airport. The drive is exciting to some extent. Once the route 30 ends and route 340 starts. After traveling few miles on 30, road gets narrower and narrower and it is single car lane road, I am not kidding here. If... More

This drive is not bad. Go slow. Buy some banana bread from Cindy, she is great, so friendly. Be ready to pull to side for drivers headed in opposite direction. On some spots along the road its s total of 9 feet across. Its paved. Don't worry! The other reviews about how terrifying... You will have a blast. Do not... More
