Golf @ Makena in Maui, well i was disappointed. The +$100 fee was just way too much to play on a course that needs some work. The greens had been cored a few weeks before & they hadn't been cut for half a week. The staff were arrogant and not very helpful nor accommodating (the staff inside the pro-shop) The... More

We had a tough time deciding where to golf while we were visiting Maui. It was our first time golfing on the island and so we wanted it to be memorable, but we also didn't want to break the bank if we didn't have to. So after sifting through reviews and such we decided on Makena. We were staying in... More

We played Makena with a bit of trepidation.... After the bankruptcy and subsequent sale of the hotel and golf course, we were concerned that the course would be in horrid condition. We were very pleasantly surprised! (The south course is closed with no clear cut plan for the future....the north course is open for play.) We drove up to the... More

We have golfed a Makena and Wailea for a few years now. The golf course and service really took a dive when they mothballed the south course. This year was a real change though. The course is in much better shape. There is more staff to assist and provide good customer service. The carts are new and provide great course... More

Better value than Wailea courses. Can get a great price at golfnow.com. Course was in good shape and views are great. Greens are so hard but that is hawaii More

The staff at Makena were very helpful and friendly. The pace was slow as there was a five -some in front of us, a wedding party. We did not think a course of this caliber would allow this. The two players behind us must have really been frustrated. The course itself is scenic, and the greens in good condition. We... More

Played for $120 pp through golfnow.com. It was an hour from Lahaina but 2/3 the price of any Kaanapali course. Staff was freindly, course was in good (had just sanded the greens) shape. For the $$ a great value to play. More

My husband and I played this course as 2-some, which is almost unheard of on a Saturday in Maui. Several of the holes have an ocean view. Green fees are about $130 each after noon, which includes range balls and a GPS on the cart. The course is fun to play, is woman friendly and has no forced carries. The... More

Wonderful layout and views but horrible condition. This could price higher than wailea courses if in same condition. Smartest golf carts I've ever driven. More

The regular rate for playing this course ranges from $139 to $179. You can save a bundle by booking through Golfnow.com which I did and paid $68 which was very good value. The course has a very good layout being a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design. When I arrived at the course, parked in the lot and started to remove... More
