Spending a whole afternoon on the ragged and windy road was kinda boring, but the views(mainly mountain and rainforest view) was very unique. We only stopped by the black sand beach at the end of the road since we were running out of time. Prepare a day for it if you drive from West Maui and plus, YOU SHOULD REALLY... More

Well Yesss It is a very tough road - many twists and turns and a Lot of small bridges ( like 30 or 40 maybe one lane where you have to peer over really tall grass to make sure no one is coming the other way... and always try and defer to the person in the other direction). So for... More

This drive is so beautiful and takes you back to what Maui was 50 years ago. Take time and plan your stops and plan to TAKE YOUR TIME to enjoy it. Plan on stopping for a hike, to swim in a waterfall, and to explore. THAT is the way to be able to soak it all in and really get... More

I was in Maui for almost two weeks, and I drove the Hana Highway twice. The first time we did it it took us 8 hours, from Paia back to Paia, but we went round the Island rather than turning around. There are attractions all the way along it, lots of tourists driving slowly, tour buses, too many waterfalls to... More

If you're on Maui for more than a few days you should devote one of them to a visit to Hana. However, it's really the journey more than the destination that you will go for. Hana has a lovely feel to it if you take time enough there - preferably by staying overnight - but there's not much there and... More

The trip to Hana via the Hana Highway is one of the most gorgeous drives I have ever made. The greenery, the waterfalls is a once in a lifetime experience. This trip is not for people in a hurry. Hana is about 50 miles away but will take you around 4 Hours to get there. Once you are there you... More

It was my third time to travel this road but my girls (17 and 20) first time. 600 curves and 59 one way brides. it take about three to four hours to travel from Kaanapali. Start as early as you can. My girls we truly amaze by this drive. Just wish we could have stopped more often but I wanted... More

Great hair raising driving .Pick a small rental car as it is easier to negotiate the road. I even drove from opposite side of island which was not a good idea meeting all the oncoming traffic. Great views all the way make sure you get back to your hotel before dark

This is a beautiful though a bit treacherous drive. Be sure to plan lots of time for the low speed limits, many curves, and lots of cool places to stop.

Definitely a long drive with lots of hairpin curves and one lane roadways. So it is not good for everyone. But the cloud forest that you drive through is just amazing. The flora and fauna here is incredible. Lots of good places to stop and get immersed into the jungle. This is an all day trip. Hana is not really... More
