This is one of the most scenic routes ever! We used the information in the Maui Revealed book. (Invest in one for your vacation. Well worth it!). This book can be your guide with lots of information not available to you in any other way... Set aside a minimum of 4 hours and just savor the natural wonders!! So many... More

This was the highlight of our trip. I'm not very athletic and normally I don't do "outdoorsy" stuff but I appreciated the adventure. I saw some negative reviews and while I agree that the drive is wind-y and difficult, the experience was incredible and unforgettable. I think prior planning is key. "Maui Revealed" is a blue book that a friend... More

A friend recommended that we drive the road to Hana. My husband was very skeptical given 50 miles of 2 lanes with single lane bridges. We rented a convertible and the audio tour. It was by far the most wonderful 8 hours of our stay on Maui. He still raves about that beautiful, scenic drive. The town of Hana was... More

This is an interesting drive, but not the world-class event like some say. I was expecting to feel like we were on a remote road through amazing vegetation and waterfalls. Instead, we got a narrow road, crowded with tour buses, going past many residences, towns and businesses. As for the waterfalls, visit the Columbia George or North Umpua Highway in... More

The road to Hana is wonderful, with some of the most breathtaking landscapes I've ever seen. Just drive very carefully.

This is a beautiful ride on Maui!!! However, it is very narrow! My husband and I got a picnic lunch and took with us. We stopped about half-way to Hana to eat, at a wonderful waterfall! Didn't go all the way to Hana (though we have been there in the past...not much to see, but can purchase a "I survived... More

No trip to Maui could be complete without a trip to Hana! Leaving from Lahaina plan on an early departure. You head back towards Kahalui Airport and take the signs to Hana. It will take you a minimum of 4 hours to get there. Naturally, it's 35 miles! The road winding around the mountains take you to a picture stop... More

Beware, even if you just go to the middle and turn around it is a long drive, but very worth it. There is a nature park in the middle of the drive that we did not go to (I remember it being very pricey), but the drives and the views are very beautiful. It is like seeing primitive Hawaii and... This is our first visit to Maui and we wanted to do what everyone does in Maui, so we took the Hana Road. Ocean breezes, lush greenery and beautiful nature. Oh, and lots of winding roads, so if you are the driver, you have to pay attention to the road!! We went to the Haleakala National Park and hiked the... More

This road is absolutely scenic, crowded with waterfalls, gardens and other attractions. You would need at least 12 hours to visit adequately, meaning you would need to leave early in the morning. It is not a good idea to be back at nighttime. The road is dangerous at night. Caregul driving is enough during daytime. We loved the waterfalls, but the... More
