Just read the "least favorite activity" review dated 11/30. Our experience was just the opposite. Had a great drive. Not going to go over all of the highlights as they will vary for everyone. I will recommend the Gypsy app -- and get the whole island app. My wife thought I was being silly getting it, but by the end... More

Got up plenty early on the Saturday after Thanksgiving to make sure we would have time to do the famed Hana Highway, continuing further south to 'Ohe'o Gulch and a plan to hike the popular Pipiwai Trail. The trip did not live up to the hype, not by a long shot: 1) I expected it to be wet (after all,... More

...take a right, then a left, repeat 617 times. A beautiful drive, take good sneakers or hiking shoes, and for the love of all things holy, BUG SPRAY. Other than these things, it's a breathtaking trip.

We stayed on the other side of the island at the Fairmont at Wailea Point - so had to rent a car and take the whole day. Totally worth it. Our friends didn't want to. They missed out. My husband still wears his T-Shirt proclaiming we survived. The trip is great to see all the different beaches. The island has... More

Love to drive... with beautiful view. However, the road are zig-zag and some people might wont like it. At the end of highway.. there is nothing.... you need to turn back and come home. :) However, if it is your first time.. I would highly recommended

Let me say I have driven in most of the 50 states. I have never been assaulted for pulling over and letting another car pass! The Hana road is very narrow and speed limits are under 20 mph. Driving the beautiful Hana road was on the top of my list. I had heard stories of how differently the islanders act... More

I went to Maui for my honeymoon with my new wife. We heard all the rave about the Hana Highway from friends that travelled before. It certainly was not a disappointment. We rented a jeep and took the top off and had a wonderful trip. So many different places to see. Waterfalls, black sand beaches, mountains canyons, just so much!... More

So many people worry about the curves and the narrow bridges. The road is so well paved and cared for that the curves and bridges are easy to handle. So do yourself a favor - don't miss the point of this drive. It's not about the road or getting to Hana. It's about what you're seeing every second. Wow. There's... More
