I have wanted to do this all my life. When I did it I was left completely underwhelmed. I really don't get it. The drive is not difficult or challenging if you know how to drive properly. It does not take all day to get there and back. I had kids with me and no one was sick or had... more

I had read lots of great reviews so was expecting a lot and but i was really dissapointed with this trip. Firstly let me say that the road is just like a lot of local country roads in england so held no problems at all (except getting stuck behind people who were clearly incapable of driving round bends). Secondly it's... more

When your on your Hana highway get-a-way I definitely recommend stopping at the hana highway fruit market. This is the only stop worth taking along the hana highway.you can refresh yourself with amazing fruit at amazing prices. and also refresh yourself with a very tasty coconut water treat. I hope you enjoy this place as much as my family and... more

Im sure everyone writes about Road to Hana being a BEAUTIFUL drive. They are right. Just to make it short, Ill give the highlights of the trip we followed Frommers guide to Road to Hana for most part. The waterfalls (twin falls and a few ones on the road) were not very impressive for swimming. The fruit and smoothie stands..........WOW...... more

Yes it is a narrow, sometimes scary, bumpy, and winding road full of blind turns but think of it as an adventure, you can't do this at home right. The roads really not that bad unless you suffer from a fear of heights or tight squeezes. My husband and I did it on our honeymoon and took a whole day... more

I feel so terrible posting such an awful review, but I have to. The road is BEAUTIFUL. It seriously is very gorgeous: the waterfalls, the greenery, the views of the ocean, trees, etc. However, after about the 3rd hour it begins to loose it's charm as the nauseating curves and turns become relentless and never ending and the views begin... more

Don't stop at Hana and return the same way you got there. Continue on to the Seven Pools and then make the drive around Haleakalal Crater. Everyone I talked to said I would be ok with the drive, but it wasn't until a tour representative told me to book the trip on a tour bus. She said it was to... more

We took a rental car to Hana and I'm glad we didn't pay for a tour. The drive was winding but not too bad, it looks like they've put in new asphalt for a long stretch so it never felt dangerous, athough you do need to be careful in the one-lane spots. The seven sacred pools were pretty, but I... more

While browsing through reviews, I decided to check out the Road to Hana to see if others thought as I did. While it was about 5 yrs ago I made the trip, I remember it vividly. I just don't think it was worth the effort. Admittedly, I didn't complete the trip to Hana as my wife was actually sick from... more

If you have the time and the energy, I would recommend taking this drive. There are some good local farms along the way that sell fruits and banana breads. We stopped by Hana Farms. Along the way to Hana, you'll pass by several waterfalls. After you get passed Hana, you'll stop by the Wailua Falls. That is the best waterfall... more
