This was my favorite day of our 2 week trip. Spectacular views! Waterfalls, rainforest-like areas. Huge trees! Great beaches & some with lava beds. The Oheo Gorge was indescribable. And we swam there. Hiking galore... It took us from sunrise to sunset to travel The Hana highway. It's a full day excursion. And the road is one lane much of... More

Unless you really want to go off the beaten path, take a tour... Otherwise, your eyes will be nothing but on the road and you will miss all of the wonders. The road is so twisting and turning, the driver must have 100% focus on the road at ALL times. We enjoyed a leisurely tour with only 5 or 6... More

We drove the entire road to Hana and around Haeleakela Volcano. It was a beautiful road but scary at times.

Too many people focus on the "Road to Hana" which is sometimes called "The Hana highway". Tis is the road named Route 330. It is beautiful, treacherous, with many switchbacks and sharp dropoffs. Some people drive it to Hana and back from Hana, or they take an excursion in a small van and leave the driving to a professional. To... More

The road is awesome and packed with waterfalls and fruit stands. Recommend doing it one day for sights and another to go straight to Hana and then all the way around! So much fun!

This road is not for the faint of heart or the carsick out there. We had a great time. Do not let anyone tell you this is a couple of hours it is an all day tour. We stayed in Kihei so we left at 9am and did not get back until about 7pm. We drove to the end which... More

My husband and I set out with the idea we'd drive for a few hours and then turn around. When we saw there were black beaches, we decided that was a sight worth seeing (we live on the East Coast) so we almost completed the entire trek since the black beaches were near the end of the highway. I'll comment... More

Plan to leave early, if your adventurous, rent the jeep, but beware the rain, it's a high likelihood you'll get wet sometime during your drive, but the 360 degree view you get is worth it. At least rent the convertible for the day. Be sure to stop at least once to swim in a waterfall. but the drive takes a... More

My husband and I did the entire road to Hana and would recommend doing that. They say there are "unpaved" roads, but Ive drove on much worse here in South Dakota! Our little Subaru car did just fine. Buy the Maui Revealed book. We didnt and I lost cell signal halfway to Hana. Needless to say all my reviews on... More

My husband and I drove the Hana Highway on the recommendation from a family member who said it was the absolutely highlight of their trip. To be fair, they went during a different time of year (we were there in February and they went during the summer months) and they also had plenty of time to stop along the way... More
