Love to drive... with beautiful view. However, the road are zig-zag and some people might wont like it. At the end of highway.. there is nothing.... you need to turn back and come home. :) However, if it is your first time.. I would highly recommended

Let me say I have driven in most of the 50 states. I have never been assaulted for pulling over and letting another car pass! The Hana road is very narrow and speed limits are under 20 mph. Driving the beautiful Hana road was on the top of my list. I had heard stories of how differently the islanders act... More

I went to Maui for my honeymoon with my new wife. We heard all the rave about the Hana Highway from friends that travelled before. It certainly was not a disappointment. We rented a jeep and took the top off and had a wonderful trip. So many different places to see. Waterfalls, black sand beaches, mountains canyons, just so much!... More

So many people worry about the curves and the narrow bridges. The road is so well paved and cared for that the curves and bridges are easy to handle. So do yourself a favor - don't miss the point of this drive. It's not about the road or getting to Hana. It's about what you're seeing every second. Wow. There's... More

Plan on an all day excursion. The drive is really easy and not at all stressful if you are prepared to take it slow and have planned ahead so you don't miss any of the more spectacular stops. We drove up from the Wailea area leaving before 8 am. Made a number of stops and arrived in Hana about 12:00... More

This is a delightful drive. Can be very slow but sealed most of the way. Buy a CD before you leave as it will tell you all about the trip as you pass different mile makers. Well worth it. We stopped everywhere and were rewarded with wonderful beaches and sea views. Definitely need a whole day so leave early.

Lot of photo opportunities. We made stops at the Garden of Eden, Black Sand Beach, Honomanu Bay Lookout and few other places. The road beyond Hana is great too, with Hamao Beach, a falls and then the Oheo Gulch. Don't let some reviews scare you about the safety of the road, its not that scary. Take it nice and slow,... We spent three nights near Hana which I would recommend that you spend at least one night so that you can take your time and explore more. You don't need to stop at every roadside stand, spend your time enjoying the waterfalls and other sights.
