If you're from San Diego, San Antonio, Orlando or any other place with a nice aquarium, zoo or water theme park like Seaworld, you may think this is a bit over rated as we did. I definitely would not consider it the #1 family attraction on Maui. A bit old and not as nice as newer aquariums on the mainland.... more

When I saw that the admission is $25 per person, I was a little skeptical, thinking that it wouldn't be worth the money. However, we got a discount through our hotel. This is a very nice aquarium. Lots to see; lots of sharks, beautiful reef fish and very educational. I was disappointed that there were no mammals, like sea otters... more

This was a very nice aquarium however more suitable for children. We found that a lot of the tanks had the same fish as other tanks but some of the larger tanks with sharks, sting rays and sea turtles were really nice to see. I would say great for a rainy day or for people with children. As far as... more

Went to the Maui Ocean Center, Sun, May 17, 2009. They were having a kama'aina/military 1/2 price discount for the entire month of May. The crowd at the center was moderate. The exhibits were excellent & were housed in a cool, air conditioned facility making it comfortable if you took your time to study the sealife. It was arranged from... more

We really enjoyed our visit here. The exhibit tanks are well designed and provide great viewing. Really impressed with the variety of exhibit designs and animals. We got there 90 minutes before closing, so we missed the presentations that happen before 3pm, but still enjoyed all the exhibits. Kids, 1 and 4, loved getting right up close with the tanks... more

This is a good aquarium though not on the order you will see in larger cities like Atlanta, Chicago, etc. Nice exhibits inside and out. The air conditioning didn't seem to be working too well as it was slightly warm and very humid inside. This attraction is worth doing but not as a destination. This acquarium in the afternoon combined... more

I was excited that there was an aquarium in Hawaii, thought that I would learn about the life in Hawaiian waters. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with what I found. The aquarium is set up very nicely, but is lacking from an educational standpoint. It houses alot of tanks but it seemed that the same types of fish were in every... more

I would recommend this aquarium for all ages also! The displays, tanks, and walk through underwater tunnel were all excellent. They have a great gift shop also. We were there when they had a diver answering questions from the tank. After that they fed the fish. Was neat to see the stingrays swim the length of the tunnel. Very enjoyable... more

I recommend the Maui Ocean Center for ALL ages! The cost is $25.00 for adults and children 3-12yrs is $18.00. The park is indoor/outdoor. It’s not very large but is home to many amazing sea life. The center showcases exotic fish, coral, turtles (adult and baby), sharks, hammerheads, stingrays and many more species. You learn so much during the visit.... more

We visited the Maui Ocean Center in August. My husband and 15 yr. old daughter were certified divers and they both did the dive in the shark tank while my younger daughter and I watched. It was awesome to see them in there with all the sharks swimming around, and they had so much fun that after I completed my... more
