The Blue Pool, Maui- These pics were taken in 2006. Although the pool looks the same the path getting there is not. When doing the road to Hana again in 2012 the Blue Pool was a must. I have to say I was not expecting the path we drove to get there to look totally different. It was almost unrecognizable.... More

I usually like to check the guide book against TripAdvisor; but since there's no service on the road to Hana, I was unable to do that at the time. My husband and I were following an outdated version (3rd ed.) of "Maui Revealed" and innocently headed for Blue Pool, ignorant of the apparent controversy. We ignored the creepy "TURN AROUND"... We visited in 2010 from our home on Oahu. I grew up on Maui and always swam here. It was one of my all time favorites. I took my fiancé for his birthday, this being the highlight of our trip. Instead of seeing the place I painted for him for his birthday, we were held against our will for over... More

Access is apparently through private land and should be avoided (and the pool itself is private from what I have read). One has to appreciate the seriousness of trespassing and the signage is not to be ignored! Verbal abuse, uncontrollable anger, rock throwing and gun threats are REAL! All of these happened to us today. There are plenty of other... More

We also met Frank who was an idiot to us!! I don't use that word lightly. Instead of swearing at people and acting so immature, Frank might want to tell the stories of how people have trashed his land. Then actually put up a gate a real gate with a sign on that gate. Don't lie and tell people he... More

Blueeyedme in her review states that regarding "private property", etc, "...none of this is true". This is completely FALSE. The land which Blue Pond in on is entirely private property, it is part of the Uliano Hui...I know because my family is part owner! That "crazy Hawaiian", Frank, is my cousin...he's truely a gentle giant and an extremely nice person.... More

My husband and I read about The Blue Pool in a guide book where the author warns you about the signs that the locals have put up but also labels the site as a real gem and says that you may just have to pay a small fee for parking to one of the locals. My husband and I decided... More

It looks as if there haven't been any reviews since our version of Maui Revealed was published (2008). Sounds like if you are sneaky or persuasive enough and come at the right time of day/week, you might be able to make it down there. We were unfortunately scared off by the crappy road (our rental had very low clearance) and... More

So, ya... Got in there and got turned around. It's funny how the locals set up fruit stands & other roadside shops to accept your cash, but threaten you to stay away from local attractions. I thought Maui was different, but get 5 minutes from the resort areas & tourists aren't welcome. There are quite a few "advertised" attractions that... More

Ignore the Oct 2010 date--I had to enter it in order to write this. I found out about Blue Pool around 1990 during a trip there with my girlfriend. A local who was a friend of mine told me about it and gave me a hand drawn map. It wasn't in the underground guide books. There was no controversy. We... More
