I had read that Tunnels beach was the best snorkel spot on the island. I had also read that in teh winter the waves could be too rough to snorkel in. We were there at the beginning of October and figured it was fall and we would be fine to snorkel, unfortunately the waves were too rough and the life... More

All the "natives" just park along the side of the road and walk a few yards to the beach. This is just the same, but on a larger scale. We loved the views, the beach, and the convenience.

Tunnels is a fantastic place to swim, snorkel and relax on a unspoiled beautiful beach. Take a snack and water along and enjoy a picnic in the shade of the trees

We visited Tunnels Beach for an afternoon in late October - several days after Tropical storm Ana had passed and missed Kauai. We used a small lane parking (as recommended in one of the guide books). Next time we'll use the parking @ Ka'ene beach next door, as it's so close. It was a spectacular day (sunny with small puffy... More

I've snorkeled several times at Poipu and once here. No contest, Tunnels is the best snorkeling spot on the island. Stay about 20 feet near shore, distance can be misleading when you are out in the ocean. Don't go out, it's not worth it. Take it from an avid snorkeler who pushed herself to the outer reef, got stuck in... More

Tunnels Beach is really beautiful but we didn't snorkel much there. We were there October 1st and 2nd and maybe we just had bad luck but the first day there were like 10 signs saying that you shouldn't go swimming and that there was a strong current. The 2nd day there only was a sign about a strong current so... More

Definitely depends on ocean conditions this was my favorite spot when I visited in late Oct'2011! Visited twice Oct 3-9 & was unable to snorkel!!! So disappointed:( Ocean conditions this trip were completely different, saw lots of people snorkeling on east coast!

We tried snorkeling in early October and it was very rough, strong undertow and murky. We did see some near fish, trigger unicorn. Damsel but it wasn't worth the fight. Also make sure you have fins. We were told by friends that you didn't need them but honestly it would have helped tremendously. Again maybe in the summer I would... More

The beach is fantastic!! Lots of clean white sand and few people. We had big swells and waves the day we were there, so the water was pretty murky, but overall the swimming and snorkeling was OK. Still ,it is a beautiful beach and worth the drive out.

My wife and I went here to snorkel. We had heard good things about this place. We were disappointed as soon as we got in the water. Visibility was poor and most the corals were dead. Didn't even see that many fish there. It required a bit of a hike from Haena Beach to reach this spot and it was... More
