We visited in December and it was too rough for swimming. The birdman was interesting. A local told us he is there almost every day to feed the birds. The "dry cave" across the road from the beach is worth a look but not a destination in itself.

In January, this beach was closed or not swimmable due to the heavy surf. But we also went in August, and it was heaven. You could snorkel all day, see many varieties of marine life (we felt blessed to see turtles, seals, and eels). On a quiet day the water is very clear and calm, and the coral goes on... More

We stopped by, mainly to check out the cave across the way. It was better cool, a nice little place to stop and check out on your way to the north side of the island. We walked by the beach for a little while, it wasn't too sunny when we went so we didn't get in the water but there... More

Honestly I am not much of a beach person but my husband and I picked this beach for our wedding ceremony and we loved it! Not too crowded and beautiful scenery.

We went there on a rainy and very windy day, so it wasn't worth it to go to the beach. Across the street you'll find a crave or tunnel (wich is not really a tunnel!!) very disappointing. I don't suggest you to go there when the weather don't allow you to stay on the beach, cause you'll waste your time.

We rented a car for the day. At the last minute I asked my phone where we could see sea turtles. It said Tunnels Beach, so we drove their. It had already been a long day, so we wanted to get back to our cruise ship. I asked a lifeguard where we could see sea turtles and he said further... More

Tunnels beach is probably the best beach in Kauai. Very nice to stroll with backdroup of the mountains. Turtles to watch near the shore. A monk seal on the beach. Romantic atmosphere to spend time with your loved one! Ohhh...I so wish I was back in Kauai.

We parked there by mistake thinking we were at Kee beach. It's a great spot to see surfers. We were there in winter and there were amazing rolling waves. Sandy beach which is not crowded (in winter) and supervised.

To get to Tunnels Beach, park at Ha'ena State Park beach, and walk to the right hand side well past the stream flowing into the ocean. The water it so clear you can see the ocean floor in its ridges and crevices. Turn around to look at the lush green mountain and waterfalls falling down from them.
