I drove up the totals beach two times while I was in Hawaii it it was so different each time. The first time I went the waves were so oMG large! It was fun to watch people serve them and watch how hard they crash into the shore. The next time I drove up with my wife to show her... More

Maybe I'm biased, but this is my favorite beach on Kauai. Granted, you'll want to visit during the summer because the winter waves can get a little crazy, but for me it just doesn't get any better. The stunning coastline and eroding cliffs paired with the serene waters make for a peaceful setting. Last time I was here I was... More

This is a great beach for snorkeling! And even if you just want to hang on the beach and enjoy the view. We went to plenty of beaches and we loved this one and Donkey beach. Also we got to spot a Hawaiian Monk seal just chilling on the beach for several hours.

Be ready for a bit of a walk, but really, it is worth it. We drove to the surf beach and walked east to the snorkeling area. Wonderful! The backdrop of the mountains was breathtaking. Highly recommended.

Can park (if you are early enough) at two small unpaved side streets before you get to Haena Beach Park, but we just parked there and walked the ½ mile east down the beach to enjoy Tunnels. Great snorkeling, but VERY strong current, beware. Gorgeous views of the lush rugged mountainous coastline. Just a picture perfect spot.

We picked the lowest surf day of the week and still it wasn't recommended to snorkel. I checked with the surf forecast folks for Tunnels and they suggested we could snorkel there as long as we didn't go far out, but rather stayed around the reef that is close to the beach. We followed that suggestion. There was a rip... More

loved this beach....in between mile marker 8 and Haena Beach Park there are small little roads with cars parked on one side, that are the beach access. If you can find a spot, great...if not..park in Haena Beach parking lot and walk right when you hit the beach. It is beautiful and while we could not snorkel due to the... More

If you are looking for a picturesque and peaceful beach, drive to the end of the road in Kauai to get to Tunnels. It is a beautiful, calm beach for families and snorkel enthusiasts. To get to Tunnels you will also pass through the charming town of Hanalei and pass gorgeous beachfront estates. Water is clear and lots of fish... More

This beach is nice and wide with great sand. Overall, it is really a snorkeling beach with a very nice reef formations. There are a lot of fish in the area and we saw two turtles who came within about 2 feet of us while we were snorkeling. The water is pretty clear and fairly calm which make it easy... More

We go here quite often when the north shore has a clear day. It is a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the reef where it is calm enough to get in the water, but it's a pretty one. Once in the reef is shallow but you hit the edge of the reef pretty quickly and the... More
