While renting a boogie board and fins for my 11 year old, I overheard talk about Tunnels Beach and the fabulous snorkeling available. We were really lucky with the weather and as the wind was extremely calm the next day, we resolved to give it a try. Arriving a good hour before low tide, we managed to secure a parking... More

So many turtles, a moray eel, loads of fish, and even a reef shark were spotted during our snorkling trip. Just remember not to walk on the coral as many tourists were doing. Signs informing tourists about the ecological impact of this is needed there.

Best snorkeling. Arrive early. Nice sandy spot for families. Huge reef. Saw turtles and many fish here. Gets a little crowded.

Beautiful backdrop, sand beach. Left sir of the beach have heavy surf, right side good snorkeling. We were lucky with good weather. #2 beach on my all time list next to Hapuna Beach on the Big Island.

barely anyone was there. A big huge expansive beach with crashing waves. Occasionally waves here would breach the first part of the beach and create a mini swimming pool of hot warmed water.

It is a walk from the parking lot, but worth it for a snorkeling and swimming area without worrying about currents and waves. Saw lots of fish. Very enjoyable.

Nice place to snorkel. Limited opportunities on north beach approaching winter, but we had a good weather day to be on north shore and took advantage. Parking in main lot is okay, but if you want best snorkeling head east until you get inside the horseshoe reef to east. There's a few places to park closer to good digs if... More

This is a must-do activity if you are anywhere in Kauai. I don't care if you are staying in Waimea, go to tunnels. For both boogie-boarding and snorkeling, this beach is perfect. My wife calls it her new happy place, knocking the beach at the Mauna Lani on the Big Island out of the #1 spot. We have been to... More

My husband and our two sons had a wonderful morning of snorkeling today at Tunnels Beach. The water was incredibly clear and the fish, abundant and diverse! From schools of reef triggerfish, to parrotfish and rays, and many more. Best snorkeling we've had in three years!
