This will be your one-stop shopping for all your souvenirs for friends and family. Try to go when there are not bus loads of Japanese pushing and crowding up the place. I always spend at least a $100 when I go. They have great cardboard boxes you can load all your goodies into for protection and easy handling. Obviously, they... More

A friend and I were on a Gray Line Bus Tour and they stopped at this candy and cookie factory. Unlike the typical stop on such tours, this place is well worth a visit. You are greeted at the door with samples of a cookie and some candy; treated to some hot Kona coffee; and then you can browse around... More

We fell in love with Big Island Candies!! The boys got large bricks of milk chocolate and crispies and before the day was over it was gone and we returned to get more. The shortbread cookies are amazing, so many different flavors to choose from. We will be reordering from the internet until we can get back there in person!!

We stopped by to get water before heading up to the volcano park. Boy were we surprised. A working cookie and candy factory and a nice variety of stuff from hand made items to to food things. They also had free samples of several things. We ended up buying some cinnamon palm leaves (cookies) and arare chocolate chip crunch cookies.... More

Which is better? The buttery shortbread cookies or the creamy chocolates? The ice creams or the beautiful packaging? Watching the cookies get dipped in the factory or eating the samples throughout the store? Check'em out!

This is a MUST STOP while in Hilo! They got the best chocolates, macadamia nut products and some "off the wall" creations using their delicious chocolates. They also have samples that you can try before buying. Plus, you can see their production facility through the glass window while shopping.

Somehow I had heard or read about this place and we wanted to explore a little and find it. Thank goodness for GPS because it was a little hard to locate - but once we found it, we were so glad! Fresh made macadamia nut shortbread dipped in dark chocolate! Does it get any better than that? I'm not sure... More

Island Candies is located in Hilo, minutes from the airport. As you enter in the small building, you are given samples and a shot of Kona coffee. Next, you can see the cookies being made. After that, there are several display cases with all the varieties on display. In addition, there are more samples. Lastly, as you check out there... More
