The scenery here is unbelievable!! The stops are absolutely incredible! We thoroughly enjoyed the Sea Arch at the end of the road. We would definitely return! Spend 2 Days in the park if you really want to see everything. I would suggest 3 if you plan on hiking.

This is a drive not to be missed. The scenery is very interesting and spectacular to say the least. Be prepared to do lots of stops along the way for some very interesting photos

This was an interesting drive to say the least. It's interesting to see all the different volcanos and flows. It's also interesting to see how the lava flowed down steep hills and into the ocean. You can also see how more island land mass is being added. The deceiving part is that at the end of the road there is... More

I've been to Volcanoes Park twice before but never had the time for this trip until now. I'm glad I made it finally. It is very interesting to see all the fields of lava and the ocean views. The facilities and snack stand at the end of the road are nice and I saw a turtle in the wild surf... More

If you are staying in the volcano area of Kona, this drive is a must. The scenery is spectacular and the coastline is absolutely beautiful. Allow a few hours to look around. I was absolutely awe-struck by how beautiful this area was, and so different from volcano village area

Take the time to make this drive. You can not do it quickly. You have to a lot enough time to stop, take photos and take in the sights. This is an awesome display that nature puts on. I was in awe to see lava on both sides of the road. It made me really appreciate the full force of... More

We have traveled the chain of craters road probably 20 times. Because of last summers lava flow some of the road is changed, or still under construction. You can still see amazing areas. If you have breathing issues check the VOG prior to going up there. The visitors center and turnouts with views are still amazing. But I would check... More

Though a relatively short drive distance wise, it took us about half a day to make it down. We stopped frequently to see the craters and lava formations. We also did the mile hike out to the Pu'u Loa petroglyphs which are definitely worth the walk! But the best part was ending at the Holei sea arch and seeing the... More

Presently not as good as it was thru 2013 BUT Mayor BillyK just suggested it'll get paved soon The lava undulations that cover the old CofC Road were plowed & leveled & graded in Oct-Dec 2014 Initial goal of this reconstruction was for the potentially lava locked population of lower Puna BUT to date the lava has not crossed Rt130...
