While visiting some friends from the local area, we visited the Savannah Rapids Visitor Center and the surrounds. What a peaceful place! Great for wandering, jogging, bike riding, dog walking, or just sitting and enjoying the beautiful view. A variety of trees, birds and other wildlife grow/reside here. Be sure to walk across the canal at the locks, study the... More

We ended up here kind of serendipitously with an hour to walk and play. Just beautiful- old locks with a path going between the river and the canal. In the short span we walked, we saw ducks, turtles, a lizard and even a snake, which was trying hard not to be seen. So worth the time and so good to... More

Too bad it was nighttime - the facility is super nice, very well done, and I understand the view in the daytime is really great.

I love exploring historic sites and also enjoy spending time in nature. Savannah river has many stunning views to offer and this is certainly one of them. There are several walking trails along the river and the canal. Also it is possible to rent a canoe or kayak and explore the canal that way.

A nice location to get away from the city and stroll along the river. One can get a nice view of the river and canal locks. I stopped by after work on a recent trip to Augusta and wish I had more time before it got dark.

Came here after touring the Interpretive Center at Enterprise Mill so I was familiar with the history. It was a beautiful day and the view of the river was marvelous. I enjoyed the walk along the river banks flanking the canal. You can walk or bike a long distance, but I only went as far as the first crossing downstream... More

This location has many amenities. There is a walking/bike trail, a playground, plenty of parking but most of all there is a beautiful pavilion for weddings, meetings, fundraisers any social function you can think of. The facility host a large upstairs ball room and smaller rooms and offices on lower level. There is a great view of the river from... More

This is one of the very few places in the Augusta, GA where someone can go walking or biking. The town is almost completely devoid of anywhere nice and safe to go walking or bicycling except for this location and a few other isolated places. There is a very long (at least 7 miles one-way) trail, canoes you can rent... More
