About
The Imperial Theatre is noted in the National Register as critical to the character of the Broad Street Historic District. At ninety-two years old, with its immutable history, Edwardian style structure and current function it is the only medium size traditional proscenium theatre capable of flying scenery in the Augusta area, and for this reason it is a critical component of the infrastructure for area performing arts groups. It is the only performing arts theatre within a 150-mile radius that connects artists and audience members to historic social entertainment by providing a gracious and historic setting for all area citizens.

The fifteenth annual Tony Howard MoTown Review for Valentine’s Day. A very affordable and uplifting three hours of MoTown Tributes plus Elvis and Michael Jackson at very affordable prices. It is a wonderful annual event of a great band and many performers. Kudos to Tony Howard, A H Howard, Tu Tu Divine, and Dan Troutman (the promoter) and the many sponsors. Buy your 2021 tickets early. It sells out quickly. See pictures including backstage.

To start, the Imperial is a great, intimate, ornately designed, fabulous theater to see any performance. We have been to concerts and plays both. Lastnight
we went see Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat!!! OMG!! We all wished we had tickets to all 3 nights!! I can't believe they spend all that time to do 3 nights of performing. Just, Wow!! The Imperial Players are absolutely incredible!! Their talent is comparable to any Broadway production!! I saw Donny Osmond in Joseph back in 1995 and have seen this show 10 different times throught the years... the Players production rated right up there with Donny!! Their orchestra was beyond amazing! Augusta has some incredible talent!!! Thanks for providing a great theatre experience

Stationed on Ft Gordon, age 17, white kid from KY! I saw the EXORCIST with an all black audience in 1973! I've never had so much fun at a theater! The movie was great but the wonderful Georgia crowd were the real experience! The crowd stood screaming and ready to run for the door! When the movie was over everyone was laughing and hugging like crazy! I've never had such a great time since!

I suppose at one time this was a nice theater, but now it has fallen into disrepair. The seats are shabby and very uncomfortable. Not enough bathrooms for patrons and not enough concessions staff. It seems like they could have saved some money on that big fancy marquis out front and put it into new seats and a better concessions area. Augusta seems to be a big enough town to have a better performing arts theater than this. The Pease Center in Greenville, SC is so much nicer.

I love going to the Imperial. My wife and I catch several shows there every year, and there is just something about the place that I like. It is old and has a certain character that adds to the performance. While old, it is still nice and a perfect place to see a musical, play, or opera. I highly recommend going if there is a show you would be interested in seeing. The only downside is that the bathrooms are obviously very old and small.

This elderly theater offers various local companies a smallish stage for their lower-budget productions. It is a hidden gem desperately in need of repairs, which are said to be coming. An old silent movie house, its bas relief ornaments and other character elements are a treat for those raised on sterile playhouses and multiplexes. I have only two complaints: the lack of adequate toilets and poor acoustics in the balcony. Buy tickets on the floor! Otherwise, enjoy a great local production and support local artists here.

Stunning architecture with every seat being a good one whether you're there for theatre or music. The sound system is quite good.

It is an old historical theatre, still in the midst of being restored although very slowly. I have been there several times for plays, dance recitals and other special events. It is easy to get to, located on Broad St of Downtown Augusta GA. There is interior parking out front inside the median up and down the block, unless another event is nearby making use of the same free parking. You can also find limited parking behind the theatre off Reynolds St. Check out the parking structure on Reynolds St. It has a nice marquee sign that lights up the area. Seating is ok, but a bit uncomfortable for ailing bones. There is balcony seating upstairs, if you have mobility issues get down stair seating. The air can use some circulation, but livable for now. Restrooms need some updating as well, but they are functional, just small. It has been a year since we were there last. Will go again when something that we like to see comes to town.
