The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is unique because unlike most botanical gardens that are completely architecturally constructed, this one takes advantage of the fact that its acres fall in a geological transition zone. You can walk on trails where the ecology actually changes from pine forest to hardwood piedmont. The Visitor's Center hosts many cultural events, art exhibits, musical... More

Well kept gardens. Plan to spend several hours to take it in. Wonderful place for Prom Pictures. It is accessible for handicap and plenty of parking.

It is one of the most beautiful places in Athens. Very large selection of flowers on display. Very nice gift shop.

great place to spend a sunday afternoon or to take a hike! the gardens are great depending on the season, and if the weather doesn't cooperate, you can always do the indoor gardens and have a bite at the cafe. the trails through the woods are nice, but as with any walking trail, be careful, streams and old growth trees... My teenage daughter is a huge gardener, so when we had an afternoon to spend in Athens, we decided to try the State Botanical Gardens. It was a beautiful place, and we loved exploring the herb garden, the founders' garden, and the psychic garden. They even had trees from Fruitland Orchards -- the orchards where Augusta National now sits. Highly... More

We had a beautiful Saturday morning to spend on the grounds before needing to head off to a campus event. The three hours we spent were very fulfilling from a horticultural standpoint. We learned a great deal and appreciated that there was good attention to labeling plant and tree material. The variety of room designs and features was most welcome.... More

To be honest I was not real happy about going to the Botanical Gardens when my wife wanted to go. I was wrong. First the price was free. The flowers were wonderful. Nice walkway and trails. This large, glass green house thing that was comfortable and peaceful. I would go again.

Very well kept and have nice plants, beautifully organised and grown. Some statues and sitting corners also provide nice resting areas.

A hidden gem that is sometimes forgotten among all the other attractions in Athens. Great place to relax and stroll the gardens. Very peaceful with a large variety of plants and flowers.

If you are a lover of flowers, then this is where you want to be! Even though the garden is small and compact, there is so much to see. There are varieties of flowers here thapt I have never seen much less heard of. This is a definite " must see" in Athens!
