I called my husband from the gardens (he was at work; we have just relocated here) and told him THIS is Merry Christmas. ...to live in this town and have this PARADISE ON EARTH in our backyard is a gift. What a magical place to come for a cheap date, to play and exercise with the kids, or just some... More

Always a pleasure to visit these gardens not far from the University of Georgia. The inside gardens are beautiful. The restaurant has decent food for a lunch. The real beauty is walking all the trails in the gardens from formal gardens to a walk in the woods.

Check doldrums at the door and be prepared to be wowed. The gardens has wandering trails, flora, fauna, hiking trails and colors blazing any time to the year. Stay for lunch, a picnic, a hike, or even a wedding ceremony in their Day Chapel. The Bot Gardens is a hidden treasure that more and more are discovering.

I recently attended a wedding at the chapel traveling from CT. I was very impressed with the venue - specifically the chapel. The reception room downstairs was also very nice and modest. The wood carved doors and the magical feel of the surrounding forest makes it a great wedding location. Only cons were the lack of cell reception. We couldn't... More

Beautiful gardens, nice hiking trails, beautiful aviary section as well. It's a great place to spend an afternoon exploring. There are many native species of plants as well as some of the newer specimens. There are often some special concerts there and the garden makes a lovely backdrop for music.

Athens is home ot the Uiniversity of Georgis...the Fighting Bulldogs! The campus is very large and part of it is the StTe Botanical GRdens which is well worth a trip for the aviary and butterfly section. Very good for children too

Its a wonderful collection of local and exotic plants with indoor and outdoor exhibition areas, including a water garden, streams, a wetlands area (which was dry when we visited), and an herb garden. There is also some beautiful art on the grounds. We were driven off by the rain after about a two hour visit. We will return next spring.... More
