Unfortunately the day we picked to visit also brought the rain after 3 days of lovely sunshine. However there was plenty to see inside and we did venture out twice and the area covered is vast. You could visit here numerous times and not see it all. All the plants and trees were healthy and well looked after and it... More

The Visitor’s Center features a nice collection of orchids and many other plants. Also located in the Visitor’s Center is a gift shop and Donderos’ Café. The whole area seems well-maintained and the facilities are clean. The outside gardens feature several miles of trails which are all very nice. Plants and trees are well marked. Visiting the Botanical Garden is... More

A great place to spend a few hours in nature. Beautiful flowers, nature trails, chapel, visitor center and cafe are wonderful.

It was raining and cold. I was unprepared and couldn't explore outdoors, but inside the conservatory it was really interesting. There was a collection of orchids and all the tropical plants that you might want to learn abut in a naturalistic environment. A great adult venue for the plant lover.

The State Botanical Garden features a nice combination of formal gardens and natural areas. The tropical conservatory alone is worth a visit! Lots of hiking trails, which are fun to traverse in all of the seasons. Unique gift shop. Have attended lovely weddings in the conservatory.

the flowers and settings are gorgeous to view and very serene. I think it is a wonderful place to visit if you have the time to smell the flowers and walk through without being in a hurry

The gardens have miles of trails ranging from moderately steep climbs and descents to strolls along the river. Wildlife abounds. And when you're through hiking, there are the acres of gardens and indoor plantings. A wonderful, relaxing way to spend a day.

It was a very pleasant surprise to find such a fine garden minutes from downtown Athens. The visitor center is a huge green house with orchids galore, a gift shop and a nice little cafe with good coffee. Outside you can stroll through very well maintained gardens and if you are feeling a bit more energetic, take a hike along... More

SBG is one of my absolute favorite places in Athens! The gardens are serene and relaxing, and the trails are just challenging enough to stay interesting no matter how many times you visit. I especially love how often the garden changes. The curators all do a fantastic job. If you get the opportunity, check out one of the educational programs... More
