The State Botanical Gardens of Georgia is a a wonderful place to enjoy gardens, hiking trails, and a large tropical greenhouse. There seems to be something in blossom all year long and, food crop demonstration gardens show off Georgia's ability to produce crops. The "Insectival" has inspired my daughter to begin working toward becoming a photographer and entomologist! I recommend... More

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia, operated in part by the University of Georgia, may be the best free public garden in the state. They sponsor the Master Gardner program for the state, have many education opportunities, provide tours and outings for public school students, and grow some very rare and beautiful plants. I have visited many times in the... More

Our little family loves to stroll through the gardens or hike some of the trails. We've also had family pictures taken here in the spring and there are lots of beautiful locations. Great for picnics!

I have been going here since the mid nineties. It's like being in another country. Very serene. Definitely a must see place in Athens. Free parking and admission, also. It would be a shame to leave Athens without a visit.

I went in December and that is definitely not the best time to go, but the tropical and flowering plants inside the building are worth seeing, as is the layout of the herb and heritage gardens.

Wonderful trails where you can get in touch with nature, relax, unwind. Great Gardens where something is almost always blooming. While Spring is the most dramatic time to visit, as any garden, we have enjoyed it year around..
