The SBG has loads of great trails that offer many different environments. This make it an awesome place for bird/nature watching. If you are an outdoor enthusiast in Athens, you've got to go to the SBG.

If you enjoy self determined walking tours, this is a nice place to go, hike on the trails, and return home w some unique pix, both of unusual plants and settings. Mid morning probably better time to enjoy versus afternoon hot days! Some signage needed updating, but overall a pleasant stroll through the woods and gardens. Know its nature, but... More

We went on the 4th of July and gardens were nice and quiet so I think we were able to see more than if the gardens were more crowded. The grounds were well tended and the designs of the flowers were wonderful

Well kept gardens, free entry and parking, helpful staff in the shop and the guy from Iowa at the desk who explained about the garden and the trails. Being from the Uk there were many plants there that we don't see in the uk in their gardens. Worth a visit.

Gorgeous. Educational. Improves in some way every month. Classes are terrific too. There's nothing to dislike.

I enjoyed experiencing the gardens in different times of the year. Don't forget to hike the trails! Lovely gardens, great hiking trails, wonderful facilities for a wedding, reception etc. State Treasure.

I've lived in and around Athens for the last 30 years, and I never tire of the State Botanical Gardens. The Arboretum is stunning and impeccably maintained. The grounds are beautiful, even in the dead of winter. There are examples of plants from all over the world with gardens dedicated to different geographical areas of the US as well as... More

Beautiful garden. Lots of different venues to explore, inside and outside. Small cafe with sandwiches. Gift shop had plants for sale. I want to go back when I have more time to explore. $2.00 suggested donation per person.

This place was on my bucket list and I finally made my way there yesterday. It always amazes me when I discover a place like this which is so close to home and yet I have never experienced it. This is a lovely and serene place. The garden area is actually larger than the North Carolina Arboretum (recently visited), and... More
