The State Botanical Gardens in Athens is a great way to spend a day. There is so much to see & do. I would say it would be a place of interest to both younger adults & Seniors. It has a nice little place to get a bite to eat while your there.

You can moonlight hike, attend classes on everything from planting an edible landscape to how to manage pests in your lawn. Kids have all kinds of fieldtrip options and festivals planned just for them. The gift shop... More

The gardens are great, but there is so much more here that you have to come back again and again! Hiking trails, river access, geocaching. But please leave your dogs at home - there is enough real nature here to enjoy!

Well designed, well maintained, clean, educational, peaceful, accessible, and FREE (but do remember to make a contribution since they won't ask). The gardens offer different but abundant displays from February - November so it's almost always a good time to visit. It's mostly outdoors so factor in the heat during your summer visit. Plenty of foliage and color in even... More

The gardens are beautiful. It is very hot in the summer, but spring and fall are just beautiful. The University does a nice job keeping them up. Great place to take family pictures or enjoy an afternoon stroll.
