Puts into perspective the size of Copan and the work done to restore the main site. This site is still partly covered in jungle, with large open areas and impressive structures. A quite large village site, can be done on a separate day to the main ruins, buy the ticket at the same time as purchasing the ticket to the... More

We walked here from the main Copan Ruins, which was not hard (about 1.5 km). The ticket includes this site, so you might as well take advantage and come! Unfortunately we had underestimated our cash and so could not afford a guide, but he did still treat us to some really interesting info about the site and sent us on... More

Las Sepulturas is the name archaeologists gave to these site which is considered a residential complex, or domestic complex. The site contains the houses of the wealthy people who ruled Copan. Not that many people remember about coming here, so the site is almost always empty. There are nice hiking trails but I remember many mosquitoes too, so bring repellent.

just as impressive as the larger ruins nearby, just a quick taxi ( moto-taxi ) ride away. You can enter these ruins with the same ticket you bought at the larger Copan Ruins. Go on your own or with a guide.

Not many people come to visit Las Sepulturas, and that will make your visit more enjoyable, as you will pretty much have the place to yourselves. the first time I came I was completely alone, and it was a strange combination between a bit spooky and a bit tranquil. this time I had a guide. Definitely work a visit, after... More

The scribes home was very impressive as benefitted the occupants who were held in such esteem. They were larger than the other homes and had very nice figures adorning the outside of the home.

La Sepultora is less developed, more original, more rustic, less manicured. More immersive, to me. We showed our ticket from the main ruins, and got in free.

After visiting the Copan ruins (which was extraordinary) we visited these much smaller but very rewarding ruins just a few miles out of the city of Copan Ruins --- this was a very nice destination and we thoroughly enjoyed it

Get a tour guide to tell you the details. Quite interesting how the rich Mayans lived. This place shows their homes and their areas where they lived.

Peaceful and different. I absolutely loved it. Needs more advertising so people visit but then it wouldn't be peaceful.
