These amazingly preserved mayan ruins were situated in this amazingly green and lush area which looked upon the below trees. Well maintained and a true testament to the international effort to maintain these archaeological sights. A must see WITH A GUIDE, the history and ways of the Mayan people were really brought to life.

This was my 3rd visit to Copán and I loved visiting the Maya site and Ixbalanque Spanish school again, people watching in the parque central, and visiting Macaw Mt. Bird Park

The ruins at Copan are definitely worth a look. The site is well maintained and there are hardly any tourists around which makes it easy for taking photos and soaking up the atmosphere. The macaws which are being rehabilitated on site are noisy but a great sight to see. Included in the ticket is entry to Las Sepultras but we... More

The ruins in their own are spectacular. After seeing several different ruins across Central America i can safely say these were one of the best. The actual ruins were incredible, but you caught sight of several different birds and animals whilst looking around. Would highly recommend to anyone.

The village of Copan Ruinas is delightful, and the Mayan ruins are truly amazing! We visited in July 2014 and the temperatures were in the mid-twenty Celsius range. The ruins are an excellent job of archeological restoration, with great signage and wonderful guides. For older folk and those with mobility issues, the ruins might be difficult to explore in detail... More

Three days in copan with its unparalleled Mayan ruins, peaceful coffee country breezes, world class restaurants and peaceful nightlife, make it the perfect stop when venturing either into Guatemala or out towards the coast.

During our recent visit at end of Sept, during the rainy season, we had no rain and found this site nearly empty. While there were some tourists and some local families, we were able to take our time and really soak in the experience! I particularly enjoyed going underground (with a separate ticket) to see the tunnels that archaelogists have... More

Fantastic history, awesome ruins and if you have a guide to take you through the whole site, its made even more enjoyable especially when you explore beneath the ruins through the tunnels.

Copan is a small town on the most western side of Honduras (nearly on the border or Guatemala). The thing to see in Copan is the Maya Ruins. The ruins are breathtaking - but I suggest paying the $25 and getting a guide to walk you through the sites. There are not many signs/plaques like a museum, so without the... More
