It has some nice hotels and plenty of souvenir/junk shops, but be aware that there are some postcards and other stuff that they don't have that you may want to get while at the site. Seems safe enough even after dark... More

Quite a large site with a number of interesting structures and carvings, though not the spectacular pyramids of some other Mayan ruins. A scarlet macaw feeding station adds to the attraction.

Worth the effort to travel to Copan. You need 3-4 hours for your visit. A must is to return at closing time to see the macaws flying, feeding and playing with each other.

Everything we had hoped for and more. A relatively small site, but some brilliant artefacts, particularly the statues... The tallest found to date.

Getting here from San Pedro Sula is easy. Take a bus to Entrada and change at the cross roads for an extra hour to Copen Ruinas. The town is lovely and is full of cowboy looking people with big hats and cowboy boots who smile and wave. The street food is fabulous and whilst walking around in the day on... More
