My wife and I chose to forgo an excursion in Roatan when we stopped there on the Carnival Liberty and instead headed out to Mahogany Beach because it was free and just a short walk (10 minutes) from the ship. We also didn't want to do an excursion because we were only in this port from 9am to 3pm (ship... More

Just got back from a Carnival Liberty cruise - one of the stops was Roatan. Mahogany Bay Beach is just a few steps from the pier. You can take a skylift to the beach for $12 (all day fare) or just walk to the beach. You only have to pay for a locker and food. The skylift (called the flying... More

On my recent cruise with Carnival, Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan was one of our favorite stops. We didn't book an excursion this day but had an absolute blast at the beach here. The area is gorgeous. We took a nature walk to get to the beach, saw lots of wildlife, flowers and got a lot of great pictures. The beach... More

Cruising in to Mahogany Bay beach is gorgeous, by far the most scenic area (if you aren't used to mountains like me, Im from flat Florida ;) However, the port is so commercialized looking and gives you no real experience of that town, it is identical to Cozumel port (has a fat Tuesdays and diamonds international, etc). The beach is... More

If you're a beach person, you might love this. I tend to avoid laying out in the sun like a dried raisin, however. PROS: - The nature trail is cute. It has little places to sit and rest, and I found a couple really enjoying just sitting in the shade and enjoying the breeze. - Super clean. - Food is... More

If you are here, chances are a cruise ship brought you. Do yourself a favor and stay on board. If you are insistent on making a day of it, go early and get a spot. Everyone from your ship is competing with you. Lol. The beach is pretty and pristine. The chair ride to the beach was the coolest part.... More

Mahogany Beach is a 5 minute walk (or up to 10 minutes if you very slow) from where you get off your cruise ship and is free! The port area has several shops and gives the impression that it is very safe. There is a chair lift that you can buy tickets for at $12pp for the day. The chair... More

The beach at Mahogany Bay at the Roatan port was right by the cruise ship. It was clean, well supplied with food opportunities and chairs. The cruise ships were right there. The privacy made it all seem very safe.

sailed in on Carnival Legend and immediately impressed by the spotlessly clean new village setting. The is a small cable car to get to the beach which is really good. This turned out to be our favourite port on the entire cruise and definitely want to go to Roatan again.

We spent some time here after our private tour booked thru Rony's tours. Very clean area with ample shopping and place to purchase food and drinks. Isolated area of the Island if you dont want to mingle with the locals.
