Our dive group had a 2 hour stopover here where we had lunch, and took a little nature walk. I spent time going over to where the sea lions were kept and had an opportunity to interact with these big guys. They also have a beautiful beach that you can choose to hang out on as well. The visit was... More

This tour was a private island but the island was a 100 yards off shore. Also you could call it private if at least you have 800 of your closest friends. That said this was large enough where you didn't feel crowded. We had lunch which was very good and an animal rescue habitat. I would strongly recommend this tour... More

Timothy Richard G Thanks for giving Maya Key a positive review. We appreciate you taking the time to do so. I don't think there was 800 people at Maya Key the day you were here. There has never been that many on any day. :-) We are big enough, and spread out so that there isn't a lot of people... More

To reach this private island, you supposedly must sign up with a cruise tour. We did so with Norwegian Cruise Lines. The snorkeling far exceeded our expectations as we were treated to a large number of colorful fish and coral formations. The water was very bouyant and cool but not cold in January 2016. The island also is a rehabilitation... More

We booked this as an excursion for Princess Cruises, although there were also two other cruise lines represented that day. It was not crowded and there were plenty of lounge chairs both in and out of the sun. The beach and surrounding areas were very well kept and clean. The whole island is actually quite beautiful. The only negative is... More

This little island is a 5-10 minute boat ride from the pier. Super easy to get to. A quick speech about where things were located and we were on our way. There were 8 of us; 4 adults and kids ages 6, 13, 15, 16. Beautiful scenery and plant life, terrific snorkeling for $18 right at the end of the... More

The beach area was nice with plenty of lounge chairs both in the shade and in the sun. The animals were well cared for. The lunch was good and the service was good. The staff was friendly. The snorkel location was pretty good.

We booked a shore excursion from the Norwegian Dawn to Maya Key. Not knowing quite what. to expect, we had a great day. We started with the walking tour of the Key and the Mayan interpretive exhibition. After this we were introduced to the animals in the sanctuary along with their stories. Being animal lovers we were pleased to see... More

This was via an excursion on Carnival Cruise and my Husband and I loved it! First there was a walk to the boat that took several of us over to Maya Key. The private island was immaculate and not crowded at all in January 2016. First stop was a neat building to pick up our snorkeling gear. Will say now... More

Maya Key is a tiny little island directly across from the cruise dock in Roatan. You get there by boarding a pontoon-type boat for a three or four minute ride across the bay. The island is perfect for anyone looking for a day of relaxation. This is not a loud party island with music cranked and teenage drinking fests. This... More

My family and I had the opportunity to "picnic" at this spot. Great snorkeling for the family, along with a nice buffet, family friendly pool and private beach. My kids loved the animals and it was nice to get a little more history about the Maya.
