There are two main ways to visit the reserve: by an organizaed tour, or by showing up individually. It is a lot cheaper to just show up (about $20-$30 instead of the $60 plus from an organized tour group), but be sure to know at least a few basic Spanish phrases to make sure that it'll be easier for you....

This wildlife refuge is not to be missed. Well protected mangrove nature, where you can see from motor launch boats birds, crocodiles, manatees (if you're lucky!) and other wild life. Don't forget to notice the plant life and flowers too! The local park-service guide was very knowledgeable about where the animals/birds are.
