You enter the park, you know that you are entering something special, ( hopefully with a good guide) I am an archaeologist and I began noticing minor archaeological ruins that the guide doesn't mention-- he is telling my wife that we are about to enter a Mayan Causeway built one thousand years ago. He points out the water drainage ditches... More

There is a mistic atm around the Central Square, especially at sunset, when the sun projects a golden light on Temple I...let crowds go and enjoy nature from the top of Temple II, facing Temple I (you can no longr climb on Temple I). ...It'll fulfill your senses. More

Located in the main Plaza is a must see iconic image. This is what you see when you do the search for Tikal. More

This is the Jaguar temple; not the first constructed but the first uncovered by the Pennsylvania team. You cannot climb this, but it is definitely a place you'll want to take some outstanding pictures. More

this structure by itself makes a big statement, very solid, powerful, with strong foundation, very well preserved, not climable as the steps are too steep, provides a wonderful introduction to the rest of the complex. More

Temple I is an awesome structure, unclimable because of its very steep stairs. Once I saw a silver fox halfway up the back of it. The whole Plaza is an amazing sight with Temple II and the ruins of the North and South Acropolis on the other 3 sides. Temple II can be climbed. More

Tikal is amazing. There are so many structures and it is such a big site. It is very interesting to see the difference between this site and other Mayan sites. Allow two days to see of Tikal. More
