Colourful and interesting, we visited on a Sunday so we had the opportunity to see a burial and a memorial ceremony.

We visited Chichi on a Sunday so this was a welcome respite from the market madness. Be respectful of taking photos of the shaman. We were told the tombs were Christian and the graves were Mayan.

The cemetery was a very easy walk from the Mayan Inn where we stayed. It's a photographer's paradise with the very colorful mausaleums and crypts.

Extremely interesting equipped with local Shaman. Mausoleums are colorful. You are high up and can look down on the city. Walked right out of your room at the Mayan Inn and the cemetario is there.

We watched a local Shaman doing a ceremony over a fire pit. The cemetery has a huge array of colorful family burial sights overlooking the city.

This is one of the most colorful cemeteries I've seen all over Guatemala, it is located on a hill, so access is a bit hard.

The cemetery is the brightest and most colorful I have ever been to. I like walking amongst the tombs and graves and reading the inscriptions. There is almost always Mayan Fire Ceremony happening. Be sure to find the memorial to the Chicken bus and shuttle drivers near the main Ceremony area. Also, new since Nov. 2013 is a beautiful Virgin... More

Definitely include a visit to the cemetery when you are in town visiting the market. The colorful tombs set in the beautiful mountain side are a sight to remember. Many local families with children were enjoying the afternoon there - and the ice cream cart even made an appearance. There were numerous active Mayan religious ceremonies taking place all throughout... More

The cemetery has a wealth of Guatemalan culture and history contained within its walls. If you have the time to stop and read some of the monuments, you will see that Guatemala's turbulent past is not forgotten. Christian burials are at times marked with Mayan ceremonies. We happened on one the day we visited and it was amazing to behold.... More
