After arriving in Belize, I learned that September/October is not low season, but CLOSED season. The further south I traveled into the country, the more difficult it was to find available tours and open facilities. By the time I arrived at Punta Gorda, I was frustrated and feeling stuck in Belize. And that is how I arrived at Garbutt's Fishing... More

I make a near annual trek to southern Belize, mostly for the diving but also to explore the country, see the sights and get to know the people. I spent a few days in Punta Gorda a couple of years ago and just happened to stumble across Garbutt's as I wanted to check out the dive flag I saw posted... More

Myself and about 14 others contacted Dennis Garbutt about an all-inclusive trip to his family's island- Lyme Caye. They arranged the transportation, 6 meals prepared by the wonderful mom on the island, 3 snorkeling outings, a few opportunities to troll for fish, and lodging for Friday and Saturday night all for a very reasonable price. We had the island to... More

If you are a Permit Fly Fishing Junkie this place is made for you. The Garbutt brothers are the best of the best in the game. The lodge is inexpensive as far as great trips go but that doesn't effect the quality in anyway. The rooms are small but comfy and silent. The food is never fancy in Belize but... More

My wife has a mild handicap (MS) and does not swim. When we talked about trying to do the snorkeling needless to say she was hesitant. We stopped at Garbutt's Fishing Lodge to ask questions and Dennis offered to take us out that afternoon. He spent 2 hours teaching her to snorkel and taking her over the coral reefs. If... More

We had a phenomenal time scuba-diving the Port of Honduras with Dennis at Garbutt's. Dennis is a former teacher, and worked with Earthwatch, and is a strong conservationist in Belize. He is a great person to talk with and learn from. It had been many years since my husband and I last dove, but he eased us into it very... More

It was a long boat ride from Punta Gorda, but the dives were really nice. Loved Seal Caye!! A truly unique diving experience. Not what I would call an easy, full service dive operation, but it was fun, and we would do it again! Would love to stay at their cottages in Punta Gorda ( we checked them out, when... More

Our university group used this company to snorkel on our last day in Punta Gorda. Snake Caye was beautiful, but beware of the sand fleas, they bite! Stay in the water! The snorkel part was good, we saw some starfish and other pretty fish, but it was kinda rocky in the water and I felt we were swimming in circles.... More

Great and personalized attention. We visit Lime Caye every year.If you want to relax, enjoy the sea, go fishing, snorkeling , or diving, this is a terrific place. Sandra's food is the best, and Dennis Garbutt will make sure you return again. This summer we enjoyed kayaking, a great BBQ, music and a great company. It's an excellent destination for a fun...
