The spirit and excitement of Garifuna drumming is apparent in Ray's smile and the way he expresses the music. This is a must-do experience for any visitor to Belize. Whether you're a professional drummer or a non-musician you'll have a great time and Ray will have you grooving in minutes! More

I visited Warasa when I was passing through Punta Gorda on my way to Livingston, and I'm glad I did - Ray is a wonderful teacher and an inspiring musician - he was so patient, and taught me a lot about Garifuna culture - it made me have much more appreciation for the drummers I heard in Livingston a few... While staying at Hickatee Cottages our group was fortunate enough to be treated to a night with Ray. In a previous visit to Belize we had purchased the Frombackabush album and fell in love with Garifuna music, so we were thrilled at the chance to hear it live. We were completely blown away by Ray's raw talent and passion. Not... More

What a great time! We had Warasa drummers play at our lodge and they were so GOOD! The singing and drumming is an experience that I will never forget -- I can't wait to hear them again when I go back to Punta Gorda. I even learned to dance the "Punta"! More

With the patience of a saint Ray makes this enjoyable no matter how good you are at drumming! Be sure to ask about the garifuna culture, with his wealth of knowledge, you will come away enlightened. A must do if your in Punta Gorda or anywhere near. More

We booked in for an hour lesson with Ronald and it was one of the best things we did whilst in Belize. The lesson must have gone on for closer to two hours and we didn't feel the time passing at all! Ronald and his wife were extremely friendly. Ronald is an excellent teacher, very patient and made the whole... More

Spent an hour with Ray while we were in Punta Gorda, and loved every minute. He started me on simple Garifuna rhythms that he accompanied on the smaller, bongo-like drum with his wild, amazing riffs and traditional songs. We were making music from the start! By the time I left I was drumming more complex stuff, under his patient guidance,... More

Ray's expertise in traditional Garifuna drumming is inspiring. Starting with the fundamentals he'll build your drumming skills from any level. It was a great experience, had a blast with my friend and learned some great drumming skills, tricks, and techniques. Thanks so much Ray! Next time I'm in PG I'll definitely be stopping by for more of those lessons. More

Ray is an excellent drummer and a great teacher, he even managed to coax some musicality out of me (no easy task as I'm the world's least musical person), and by the end of the lesson we were even having a little jamming session! I didn't get enough time to learn too much about Garifuna culture, but if I ever... More

What a great way to get involved in garifuna culture. Ray is an excellent teacher: inspiring, patient and fun. It's lovely to watch him perform with his father and band but if you can get a private lesson too, I'd definitely recommend you give drumming a go; his enthusiasm is infectious and even if you lack a sense of rhythm...
