It was a quick 2 hours stay at the Ixacacao Mayan chocolate but it was certainly worth it. I came after a group of young teenagers so I had Henry (the proprietor's son) as my personal guide. He showed me the cacao bean and how to make chocolate the traditional way. He also took me on a tour of the... More

It took a bit of a drive and a bumpy road to find but, the tour and meal at Ixcacao were worth it. We were warmly welcomed by Henry, the owners son, and taken to the open air area above the chocolate making area. We started by sampling real Mayan hot chocolate. We added our own sugar and ground chili... More

The chocolate was the best I have ever tasted in my whole life. For years, I have wondered how and from where organic chocolate comes. Now I know! The lunch was gourmet. Friendly staff welcomed us to their home and work. Thank you! We recommend Ixcacao without reservation!

I took a tour with Taste Belize (Kyra was my guide) and got to see an participate in the process of taking a cacao seed and turning it into chocolate. I was unfamiliar with the process but am all about chocolate. Might as well know how it's all made. I was picked up in Placencia and driven to Punta Gorda... More

I can't add much to previous reviews except to urge you to make this tour happen...it is time well spent. The combination of hospitality, entrepreneurial spirit, historical relevance and just plain fun cannot be beat in my book. You certainly don't have to be a chocoholic to appreciate what Juan and Abelina are doing organically in every sense of the... More

We made a quick stop to stock up on "Belize's finest chocolate" Unfortunately we did not have time for a tour, but were told about this place from one of the guests at The Farm Inn. A must stop for chocolate and next time we'll take the tour.

What an awesome experience visiting the home and business of Jaun and his beautiful wife Abelina. They treated us like we were all family. Abelina is one of the best cooks ever!!! We were able to share and take part in the Maya culture. The people of the San Felipe village are the friendliest you will ever meet, smiles everywhere.... More

Make sure you include a trip out to San Felipe Village to see how choclate is made and to experience a wonderful meal. Our grandsons loved visiting here and learning how to make choclate the Mayan way! Not an easy thing to do and the chocolate was delicious. Thank you Lyra for being out tour guide and taking us to... We drove all the way from Placencia to Juan's cacao farm - 3+ hours. It was DEFINITELY worth the trip! We had the BEST meal of our entire week in Belize at IxCacao! All organic, fresh, and delicious! Making chocolate was fun and informative! And the tour was so interesting. When I asked Juan if he ever took a vacation,... More

While in Placencia we booked a tour to the chocolate farm for my husband and I, two daughter (14 and 12) and my mother in law who is retired. Juan met our family at one of his farms and walked us through the grounds explaining the agriculture and allowing us to taste a lot of wonderful items that he grows.... More
