On our recent trip to belize. We got a chance to take a tour down to the chocolate farm. It was a wonderful experience learning about chocolate and how it's made and processes. Juan was a great and humble man. His wife Abelina made us a wonderful lunch from their garden with chicken that is raised on their farm. That... More

Juan gave us such a wonderful experience at his Cacao farm. He is such a wealth of information and has such a passion for Chocolate. Abelina cooked such an amazing lunch for us also. The Mole chicken was so awesome that I had to get the recipe! If you want a truly great experience in an intimate setting please visit... More

My wife and I had the greatest time visiting this location. Juan and Abelina were the most gracious host's you could ever ask for. They accommodated our vegetarianism, educated us and we laughed and carried on for hours. I HIGHLY recommend this tour.

My boyfriend and I loved IXCACAO! Juan was very accommodating and fit us in for chocolate making and lunch. He also picked us up from the road for a small fee so we could take the bus and save some money. His lecture was informative and fun! Making chocolate takes a lot of elbow grease. His wife made one of... More

Visiting Ixcacao Maya Belizean Chocolates was certainly a highlight of our trip to Placencia, Belize. Located in San Felipe Village, Punta Gorda, Belize, it is an approximately 2 1/2 hour trip from Placencia Village. When we arrived, we were taken upstairs to a beautiful, rustic open air room with dining tables and chairs and were served hot chocolate - like... More

A very unique tour.... very personable and interactive. The kids loved making their own chocolate. Lunch was provided and it was great!!! There is nothing like a home cooked meal. It was amazing to see rudimentary process that yields great chocolate.

Didn't expect to be so well informed. It was money well spent. Lunch was outstanding and saw a side of Belize that isn't touristy.

This place is outstanding. We drove several hours to take this tour and it was well worth it. We started by sampling a fruit from the cacao tree. It is a slimy sour tasting fruit with a nut inside. Next we were brought a pan of nuts that had been roasted and needed shelling. After shelling the nuts, we ground... More

I have now been to Ixcacao four times and it only gets better each time I go. Juan and Abelina Cho are absolutely brilliant people who use cacao to not only teach you about the chocolate-making process, but also about Mayan culture, the miracles found in the rainforest, and a more sustainable way of life. Juan takes great care in... More
