I had some extra time on my vacation in December, so I decided to go ahead and get my "Open Water Certification" for scuba diving. I live in Seattle, so learning to dive in the Pacific Northwest can be a little cold. The staff at Seahorse were all great. I first met with Brian to set up the classroom portion... More

Our family arranged for a snorkeling trip though the Maya Beach Hotel, and ended up with Seahorse. My husband and I and our two kids, ages 10 and 9, had never snorkeled before. We ended up going out with another couple who were also beginners, and it was a great experience. Our guide, Max, was fantastic and VERY patient with... More

I emailed Seahorse Dive Shop a couple of days before arriving to Placencia to see if they were still doing trips to Glovers Reef and confirm costs. Never heard back but decided to go anyway. Arrived at 11.30am, phoned them and Brian Jr confirmed price and that a trip was going to Glovers the next day! Perfect! We'll walk down... More

Some of the other shops in Placencia have better looking boats and shops but Seahorse is a more cost-effective option. We found the service to be good and the dive instruction to be quite good. Read some of the other reviews and must say that my experience with the same set of people was totally different; these guys were cool,... More

These guys are great. They know what they're doing. They treated us well, and were a lot of fun. We did two "discover scuba" dives with them. None of us had ever done scuba. Our first dive was to Laughing Bird Caye. We had so much fun, we did another dive a few days later out at Silk Caye, which... More

Did 3 guided snorkeling adventures on 3 separate reefs- 2 from Silk Caye (beautiful little island about 25 miles from Placencia) and one about half a mile out to see nurse sharks, sting rays, and sea turtles (so many of each animal, all very friendly creatures and the instructors were guiding us safely to get a better look at each... Worst dive I've ever had. Eight to ten foot seas, saw nothing. Dive master rude and unsafe. Asked for more weight but was dragged down by the guide. Terrible day!! Nearly everyone on board got sick

I would recommend this dive shop but for advanced open water certified people only!! Before signing up make sure you know what you already doing because the main ones, blue hole and whale shark diving is for more experienced divers. They also seem to have a few problems with getting the right size equipment on the boat at times and... More

We checked in for our scheduled whale shark dive and it was quit disorganized. Our boat captain did a great job making our 1.5 hour journey as smooth as possible. Kurt our dm was arrogant and scolding about any mistakes he thought divers were making even to a visiting instructor and rescue diver. So much so that a couple of... More

PROS- Offer the most hyped dives in Belize: The Blue Hole; and chances to dive with Whale Sharks. Friendly receptionist (Brian) and ship Capitan (Bash). Helpful Capitan assistant (Max) Made special stop at Half Moon Caye to use their restrooms, and pee stops upon passenger's requests. SeaHorse provided free transportation from the hotel we were staying at. CONS - Ship... More
