Many of the plants and birds of tropical climates, so different than western Canada. Also saw a swarm of army ants at work, devouring spiders and beetles in their path. The orchid house showcases the local orchids, many that are hard to find otherwise. Just remember to take mosquito spray!

We went here after going to Xunantunich. It's a bit of a drive from the main highway on undeveloped roads, but it's definitely worth the trip. I think it was just about two miles from the highway, and you definitely want to have a car that can handle the pot holes. When we went our tour guide was Willy, he... More

I went to the gardens in July. While I appreciate the work that has gone into them, because almost nothing was in bloom, we were not really blown away. Unfortunately it was not time of year for orchids. Would have been nice to get a discounted rate given that nothing was blooming. Would be worth a visit at the right... More

Just went there basically 'by accident', an unplanned stop on a canoe trip from Black Rock Lodge to Chaa Creek. Imagine our surprise to find a full-blown botanical garden :). Much bigger and more professional than we expected! We spent a few hours, had an excellent lunch at their tasteful restaurant, and googled the place that same evening - we... More

We stayed at Duplooys in part because of the Botanical Gardens, and my moms loves birding (we heard this was the place to be if you were a birder) and we were not disappointed. We went to the botanical gardens on a few occasions, and it was as if it got better each time. The amount of work that they... More

The Botanical Gardens were amazing. We did it as a small afternoon trip without a guide. We did some hiking which was wonderful. We went up to a big wooden structor and the view was amazing. We walked through a bamboo arch. All in all it was PERFECT!!!!!!

I chose duPlooy's lodge as they had the Botanical Gardens, and my wife is an avid gardener. I could not have made a better choice. The Botanical Gardens are administered by duPlooy's, in conjunction with the EU. The tour takes a little over an hour, and the beauty of this location is just breathtaking. We were fortunate enough to see... More

Our group visited the gardens and it was great! We loved seeing all the different types of trees and orchids. The guides were wonderful! We really enjoyed the overlooking the jungle and Macal River in the tree house too!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. The grounds are expansive and beautifully kept. There are several nice trails. You could easily spend all day here and never see everything.
