Just an ok activity.

Much better things to do at the resort like hiking, the pool, the butterfly greenhouse and the amazing spa.

A two room museum, detailing the mammals, birds and insects of Belize. I came away from there with a better understanding of my jungle surroundings. Easy to combine the visit with the Blue Orpho butterfly cage

there is a small exhibit and butterfly farm. The Belize blue butterfly is stunning, so that is worth is all by itself. The museum is interesting, has a lot of research material and work, and shows that the history of the Mayan people, which started about 1500 or so BC, and still exist in Belize and the surrounding areas today,... If you are staying or taking a trip to Chaa, be sure to check out this interesting and informative exhibit. There is wide variety of information related to geography, geology, anthropology and more. However, it is fairly small and there is small fee if you are not a guest at the resort. Therefore, I suggest skipping the 20 minute (and... More

This attraction is located on the grounds of Chaa Creek Lodge's grounds. (We were staying at duPlooy's, nearby) The museum is relatively small, but packed with displays and artifacts. The highlight for us was the Butterfly sanctuary. Chaa raises the Blue Morpho Butterfly, and you get quite the education on this species. Remember, this is a rainforest, so be prepared... More

We went just for the day, did the medicinal trail and canoed back to San Ignacio. The location is a bit out of town, but we were picked up by the staff of Chaa Creek, who were very helpful. The property is beautiful and breathtaking. We were given such a wonderful tour of the medicinal trail, with our guide being... More

The blue morpho butterfly is a beauty to behold. It was very interesting hearing about how they are raised here at Chaa Creek. Glad they no longer sell them for release at weddings, etc. This was the best review of the complete life cycle of the butterfly I have ever heard or seen. They have living examples of each stage and... More

My husband and I were staying at Chaa Creek and decided to take the free tour offered to the Natural History Museum and the Butterfly Farm. According to the Chaa Creek website, the tour is $5/person for people who aren't staying at Chaa Creek. The guide was very informative and answered all questions that we had. The butterfly farm and... More

The museum is small but packed full of information pertaining to the surrounding area. The naturalist who gave us a lecture was knowledgeable and was encouraging of questions. The only reason that I didn't give this five stars is that the butterfly farm is in the middle of re-populating the butterflies (blue morphos). We were able to see and learn... More
