A great exhibit of the history of Belize, especially the area surrounding the resort. A must see while a guest. Our family thought the museum was very well done and informative. The butterfly house is close by. This is where they propagate two species of butterflies. Everything at Chaa is First Class

Lots of steps to the museum and butterfly house. Got a ride back down, but if you have knee replacements or need them, best to get a lift!

This little gem was a big surprise! We learned about the life cycle of the Blue Morpho butterfly and many more facts about different animals that inhabit Belize. There is an extensive butterfly and bug collection as well as a large section of Mayan architecture and way of life. This small museum is truly a treasure!

Great if staying at Chaa or there anyway. I don't think I would make a special trip to see this. Displays of insects, flora/fawna of the area and some old village tools and practices are explained by a guide on the hour. The morpho butterfly house is associated--also small but the presentation of the stages of the butterflies life cycle... More

This was awesome, especially the butterfly exhibit. You actually get to be in with these beautiful, huge blue morphos. They even let you hold them!!!! Be sure to bring bug spray and be aware of your surroundings. I had a spider on my hand and didn't even know it until someone pointed it out! There are other insects like caterpillars... More

My daughter enjoyed seeing the butterfly exhibit. Unfortunately we missed the guided tour, which I am sure would have enhanced our experience!

Probably not worth a special trip, but a nice added feature for guests of Chaa Creek. The small Butterfly farm for Blue Morphos is an added attraction, as is the explanation of the gestation period of this gorgeous insect.

Mayan sites are all over Belize. This is a quaint little museum next to the butterfly center. Provides a nice synopsis of Belizian history. We were already staying at the Lodge at Chaa Creek so was convenient.

This was one of ths stops that my school group made when we visited Belize. As a biology teacher, I was impressed with the exhibits and the knowledge of the staff. With our guide, it truly was natural history as they identified types of animals and their role in the environment and the plants that influenced them. The area was... More
