If you are a reptile fan, these little guys are beautiful and sweet. We held the adults and they enjoyed being held (warmth of our hands I suppose). Then we went into the baby iguana enclosure, and our guide COVERED us with babies. I must have had 40 on me at once. They were very cute, tickled a bit! You...

It only takes an hour, located on the property of the beautiful San Ignacio Resort Hotel and is a WONDERFUL time. VERY up close and personal with the endangered green iguanas, and we were able to hold 1 day old hatchlings as well. The guide was SO knowledgeable and friendly. It's a wonderful and respectable project and we were glad...

I had a hour to spare, so I decided to check out the iguanas. It is located at the San Ignacio Resort which is only a 5-10 minute walk from the center of town. The 45 minute tour costs $12BZ and the last one is at 4pm. Eddy, the guide, is very knowledgeable and is passionate about iguanas. You will...

The San Ignacio Resort Hotel is home to the Iguana Project, a sanctuary dedicated to preserving the well-being of iguanas. They breed and raise iguanas (a delicacy to eat in Belize!) and then release them into the wild. For a very nominal contribution, you get an informational tour and then can feed and hold all the iguanas you want -...

We stopped by to get a tour and we were early but they got our guide and off we went. We were educated about iguanas, saw them at different ages, fed them and held them as much as we wanted, so if you like lizards and especially iguanas this is your place.
Go and adopt an iguana for a very worthwhile project to protect them. The people who work on this project are passionate about preservation and there is a nice medicinal plant trail behind the San Ignacio Resort Hotel which is an enjoyable walk as well as interesting and informative. They will even put iguanas on you for an amusing photo...

Something to do on a hot day. Go here then go for a swim at the hotel or have a drink. Staff person went to trouble to show us eggs incubating and fun to pet an iguana and wear one on your head.
The tour guide, Eddy, is hilarious. If you're up for it, he'll just start piling iguanas on your shoulders and head while telling you all about them! You'll also get a chance to hold Gomez, the resident big iguana. The work these guys are doing is really interesting and it's definitely worth stopping by to check it out.
Eddy, the tour guide, is fantastic. Fed iguanas and held Gomez, the mac daddy. It was a good experience.
