It is also the first nature destination in Belize that is accessible to visitors with physical disabilities. We are committed to the conservation of Belize's wildlife and its habitats through the establishment of a well maintained zoological facility and education center, both poised to bring about a greater environmental awareness to the people living in Belize, and to visitors from abroad. TBZ believes that by bringing the people closer to the animals, which are their natural heritage, they will feel proud of these special resources, and wish to protect them for future generations. All Zoo "residents" were once pets; donated to the Zoo; rescues found injured, abandoned or orphaned and brought in rehabilitation; or born at the Zoo. The Belize Zoo receives no financial support from the Government of Belize, and generates funding to care for its residents through admission fees, tours, donations, and adoption and membership programs. « less

Very nice and interesting zoo with large variety of animals. The stuff is very kind and helpfull. They treat tge animals very carefully and gently. We loved the place, very recommended. Definitely a must do visit for any member of the family. The Belize Zoo is one of a kind, the animals are nestled in their natural habitat! The entrance fees is inexpensive, and the staff is courteous and willing to assist. You are given a map upon payment and the map is easy to read so getting around is not... More

We visited the zoo late morning and it wasn't very busy when we arrived, first thing we did was to hold their Boa constrictor which was nice photo opportunity. The map is easy to read and it was great to see and learn about the many animals native to Belize and on walking around we got to see one of... More

We visited the Zoo during low season so the park wasn't over busy, there is so much to see at this Zoo with a difference! The trails were well marked out so you wont miss anything and the enclosures for the animals allow you to be able to see what you have paid for! Most of the animals here are... More

A chance to get up close and personal with the animals of Belize. All of the animals are either saved or donated - none are captured, yay!

It was great to see all the animals so close and to know that they were all species indigenous to Belize. Nice gift shop too full of locally made crafts.

We stayed near the Belize Zoo while on a kayaking trip with Island Expeditions. IE owns some cabanas down the street from the zoo and we got to visit the animals at night. The zoo was our first stop and we stayed for one day. My own regret is that we didn't get to see the animals in the daytime... More

The special experiences you can sign up for are amazing. You have to pay for each one, but they are worth the price to enter into the big cats cages and even feed them. Great memories.

We have been to the Belize Zoo before but I wanted to go back to photograph the Black Panther. Unfortunately, the Panther that I remembered had been killed by a tourist throwing a plastic bottle into his pen. He ate it and it killed him. The new Panther is not a photogenic. The High Point of the Zoo for us... More

The Zoo was a memorable stop in Belize. The admission was cheap, and they offered all kinds of tours, including night tours, we just did our own walk through. It was nice to see all the animals were either rescued or rehabilitated. We had the chance to feed their jaguars, panther and other cats raw chicken, a neat experience. One... More
