Description: The Belize Zoo is an institution that cares for over 150 native wildlife...
The Belize Zoo is an institution that cares for over 150 native wildlife, and promotes Conservation, Education, Recreation, and Research. It is also the first nature destination in Belize that is accessible to visitors with physical disabilities. We are committed to the conservation of Belize's wildlife and its habitats through the establishment of a well maintained zoological facility and education center, both poised to bring about a greater environmental awareness to the people living in Belize, and to visitors from abroad. TBZ believes that by bringing the people closer to the animals, which are their natural heritage, they will feel proud of these special resources, and wish to protect them for future generations. All Zoo "residents" were once pets; donated to the Zoo; rescues found injured, abandoned or orphaned and brought in rehabilitation; or born at the Zoo. The Belize Zoo receives no financial support from the Government of Belize, and generates funding to care for its residents through admission fees, tours, donations, and adoption and membership programs.

We stayed at the tropical education center so we could do the night tour too. The day and night are different experiences. Im glad we did both. The food at the zoo was good and very reasonable. The chicken burger and rice and beans were delicious. We stayed in the forest cabanas. Very clean. Even the bathrooms were clean. The... More

To get us closer to the airport from Placencia , we chose an overnight at the Tropical Education Centre near the Belize Zoo, adding in a night walk at the zoo. We stayed in one of the pond cabins. It was rustic, giving an at camp-jungle experience. Dinner and breakfast are provided, simple and tasty. To pass the afternoon, we... More

We combined the zoo with cave tubing and glad we did. It's a small zoo and doesn't require a lot of time. The zoo is clean, the animals seem happy / comfortable and all the animals are native to Belize. The cats are amazing! The animals are in their natural environment and you can generally get quite close to them.... More

If you are visiting Belize don't miss this zoo. I am a long-time docent at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson, AZ so I know a little about zoos. This zoo is not to be missed!

The Belize Zoo was small, but worth a trip for the beautiful animals it has rescued and the mission of the zoo itself. It is a nice day activity to escape Belize City.

We went in the morning, and the animals were incredibly active and playful! I think part of the credit goes to our guide, but you can tell the animals are happy in their home!

I visited the zoo several times but never did write a review, It was clean and quiet and the Price was right. It is ideal for taking children to learn more about animals in their natural hábitat. Each animal has its information nearby. It was a sunny day but due to the shady tres it was nit so bad.

The little zoo is precious. Although it’s smaller than the average zoo, it’s pretty adorable and you can tell they really care for their animals. First of all, all the animals in this zoo are native to Belize so they are in their natural habitat and their “cage’s” are huge! They live a great life and you can have many... More

Great day at the zoo. ALL the animals were super cooperative!! How nice of them to pose and parade themselves for us, especially all the nocturnal ones who skipped their naps just to give us a show. Must commend the zoo for making the facilities wheelchair friendly and I must add push chair friendly as well.
